Will Netflix Renew ‘The Hunting Wives’ for Season 2?

Since premiering on Netflix in July 2025, “The Hunting Wives” has become one of the summer’s most talked-about thrillers. Now, with its explosive finale and cliffhanger ending, fans are left wondering: will there be a season 2?

Although Netflix has yet to confirm a second season of “The Hunting Wives,” the potential for renewal remains strong.

The steamy thriller, based on May Cobb’s bestselling novel of the same name, originally developed at Lionsgate and was set to premiere on Starz before landing at Netflix. According to Deadline, Netflix holds exclusive U.S. licensing rights to the show for one year and, importantly, has the ability to greenlight additional seasons.

The show follows Sophie (Brittany Snow), a Boston newcomer who gets pulled into the seductive and dangerous world of East Texas socialites, led by Margo (Malin Åkerman). Guns, affairs, and a murder mystery kept viewers locked in—and social media buzzing.

The cast has expressed interest in returning, with Snow sharing that she hopes season 2 would dive deeper into Sophie’s motivations and unraveling psyche. “That’s a dark night of the soul situation that we would only be seeing in season 2… Maybe a really good therapist and a lot of time,” she told Collider

Åkerman echoed the enthusiasm, telling People, “I definitely want a season 2.”

What the Creator & Author Have Said About a Possible Season 2

Showrunner Rebecca Cutter has made it clear she’s not done with “The Hunting Wives” just yet.

In a July interview with Variety, Cutter teased that if the show returns, fans can expect “a little bit of a time jump — not a year, but a time,” and noted that early ideas for new plotlines are already taking shape. “It would be smart” to introduce another mystery, she said, before joking, “I don’t know whodunit yet or who got done!”

Cutter also revealed that season 2 would likely explore the “peaks and valleys” of the Margot and Sophie’s shifting power dynamics, alongside a brand-new crime storyline.

Author May Cobb, whose novel inspired the series, has also voiced her excitement about continuing the story. “I feel like there is so much more story to be told,” Cobb told CBS in July. “It ends on a cliffhanger, and also, the cast and crew were so wonderful. We all just want to get back together and work together again.”

Though Netflix has not officially announced a renewal, the creative groundwork—and fan enthusiasm—for a second season are already in place. With the cast eager to return and the story still unfolding, “The Hunting Wives” may be far from finished.

For now, all eight episodes of season 1 are available to stream on Netflix.
