Netflix has released the first-look images for the highly anticipated “Nobody Wants This” season 2, and the sneak peek teases romance, rivalry, and plenty of sharp-tongued comedy. Adam Brody and Kristen Bell return as Noah and Joanne, with photos showing the couple looking very much in love. Joanne is seen cheering from the sidelines at Noah’s basketball game with the Matzah Ballers, while also continuing her podcast with sister Morgan, played by Justine Lupe.
Season 2 picks up after the season 1 finale’s lingering questions, when Joanne hesitated to convert to Judaism despite Noah’s promotion to head rabbi. Their passionate kiss closed the season, leaving viewers wondering whether love would trump career ambitions — and whether the relationship could last if Joanne stood firm in her beliefs.
Kristen Bell and Adam Brody Return, But Leighton Meester Brings the Drama
NetflixOne notable absence from the first-look photos is Leighton Meester, Brody’s real-life wife, whose season 2 casting was announced in February. Meester will play Abby, Joanne’s former middle school nemesis turned Los Angeles “momfluencer” — and the reunion is set to be deliciously tense.
As the creator Erin Foster told Deadline, Meester’s comedic chops are on full display: “She blew our minds. She’s comedic genius, she’s so funny.” Foster even hinted that Meester’s role might be expanded in future episodes, saying her performance was so good they’re considering bringing her back for season 3, should Netflix greenlight it.
NetflixThe feud between Abby and Joanne is ripe for social media sparring. With Abby boasting a massive online following and Joanne running a popular podcast, the two have endless opportunities for petty, laugh-out-loud clashes. And since Abby’s known Joanne since their awkward adolescent years, her interactions with Morgan could be just as biting.
This also marks a mini “Gossip Girl” reunion — Meester famously starred as Blair Waldorf on the CW hit, while Bell narrated the series. Off-screen, Meester is married to Brody, making this on-set dynamic even juicier.

The last time we saw agnostic podcast host Joanne (Bell) and unconventional (hot) rabbi Noah (Brody), their unmatched chemistry surprised everyone in their lives, including her sister Morgan (Lupe), his brother Sasha (Timothy Simons) and sister-in-law Esther (Jackie Tohn), and even themselves. Their spark proved stronger than all of the obstacles trying to keep them apart. Now, they’re back and fully committed to merging their lives — and loved ones — together. But their differences still exist and can’t be ignored. The challenge now is not just falling in love against all odds, but staying together in spite of them.”
