Fleetwood Mac icons Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham have dropped a surprise that’s sending fans back to 1973—in the best way.
On Wednesday, the duo finally confirmed that a remastered edition of their sole collaboration is on the way—set to land on Sept. 19, 2025.
The 1973 album “Buckingham Nicks” was created before the two joined Fleetwood Mac.
This marks the first-ever CD and digital release of the album, lovingly remastered from the original analog master tapes by Rhino Records.
Nicks shared an Instagram post letting fans know that the single “Don’t Let Me Down Again” is already out for fans to stream.
The release comes just weeks after Buckingham and Nicks revealed plans to reissue the album.
On July 23, the two shared an Instagram video of a Sunset Boulevard billboard featuring the record’s iconic cover art.
Prior to the announcement, fans speculated that something was in the works as both Nicks and Buckingham had some mysterious social media posts.
In July 2025, when Nicks, 77, shared the handwritten words “And if you go forward…”—only to be followed by Buckingham, 75, completing it with “I’ll meet you there.”
Fans React
Fans of the album rejoiced about the news.
“YESSSS! This is what I need right now, good music as a distraction,” one user wrote. “Now I just need you guys to tour for it.”
Others clamored for the two to reunite for a tour.
“Dream scenario, a tour and another Buckingham Nicks album. I think we’re lucky to get what we’re getting though,” another wrote.
Others added, “So I get really excited by the songs dropping, how will my heart ever hold up when we see dates?”
Nicks Dishes on Performing With Buckingham
Nicks and Buckingham were previously an item and have a tumultuous history.
Nicks appeared on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” in October 2024 and discussed how the two were able to perform together even after their relationship.
“When we walk onstage, we are still able to pull back that love affair, and we can have it, the audience gets to have it, and everybody enjoys it,” she told Fallon.
Nicks added, “When we walk off the stage, we go to our own separate limousine and we go to our own separate hotel and we’re cool. And then we do it again the next night.”
The “Seventeen” singer told Billboard in September 2014 the two were already breaking up when they were joining Fleetwood Mac. She recalled how she had a conversation with Buckingham on how they needed to put their differences aside.
“OK, this is what we’ve been working for since 1968,” she said. “And so Lindsey, you and I have to sew this relationship back up. We have too much to lose here. We need to put our problems behind us.”
