It’s Official, Snoop Dogg Is Getting His Own Biopic! 

Well, well, well, the time has come! Snoop Dogg is the latest music icon to receive his very own biopic. Yes, Universal Pictures has partnered with director Craig Brewer to bring the legendary rapper’s life story to the big screen, according to Entertainment Weekly. The project is expected to explore his rise to fame, which led to global superstardom.

This marks the first biographical film focused entirely on Snoop. Though his story briefly appeared in the 2015 film “Straight Outta Compton,” where he was portrayed by LaKeith Stanfield, this marks the first time his full life and legacy will be shared on screen.


A Powerhouse Team Just For Snoop Dogg


Brewer, known for directing music-driven films like “Hustle & Flow” and “Dolemite Is My Name,” will work behind the scenes as director. As far as the screenplay, it is expected to be penned by the talented Joe Robert Cole. The writer is best known for his work on “Black Panther,” “Wakanda Forever,” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”

This isn’t the first time Snoop and Brewer have collaborated. The two previously worked together in 2019 for his film, “Dolemite Is My Name,” which starred Eddie Murphy. The film also featured a big A-list cast, including Wesley Snipes, Mike Epps, Chris Rock, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Rudy Ray, and more.

Their reunion signals a strong creative partnership aimed at telling Snoop’s story with authenticity and depth.


A Bold New Era for Death Row Pictures


The biopic promises to go beyond Snoop’s music career. It will delve into his early life, the challenges he faced, and his evolution into a global icon. Don’t worry, to make sure things are accurate and to his liking, Snoop will also serve as a producer. As well as Brian Grazer and Sara Ramaker, the president of Death Row Pictures.

It’s the first project under Death Row Pictures’ new deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios. The expansion into film and visual storytelling signals a new chapter for the iconic label that originally launched Snoop’s career.

Casting details and an official release date have yet to be announced. But, anticipation is already building with fans predicting actors online, eager to see who will be chosen.
