Ozzy Osbourne is getting ready to say goodbye to the touring life, which has fans eager to see what the singer has in store for his final show. Recently, his wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, made headlines after she defended her husband’s good faith and commitment to his talent after revealing she had a say in a decision that affected the final show, Back to the Beginning.
In an interview with Metal Hammer, Sharon opened up about the incident, revealing, “I had a huge, huge to-do with a manager over this celebration for Ozzy and Sabbath. And it was probably the worst way I’ve felt in years.”
Apparently, things got heated enough that Sharon made the executive decision to axe the band from the historic event.
“I don’t care what this person says about me, thinks about it, because he doesn’t know me,” she continued. “And he’s now going around making up b***hit lies because I threw his band off the bill.”
She continued, “I don’t care what people say. Because do you know what? I don’t love them. I care about people who love me, what they say about me. You can’t care what an industry says, because you don’t love them, so how can it hurt you? It doesn’t.”
Osborne initially began managing the metal singer, who was her boyfriend at the time, in 1979 and has since remained by his side both personally and professionally.
Who Got the Boot?
The TV host didn’t necessarily name names, but fans immediately started speculating. She was quick to clarify that the mystery band is indeed not Iron Maiden, who have also been making headlines for a few months now. That old feud is a separate tale entirely, though Sharon’s history with Maiden is legendary. Who could forget the 2005 Ozzfest incident where Sharon had the crowd egg the band after frontman Bruce Dickinson allegedly insulted Ozzy and the fans?
Still, Sharon emphasized that Ozzy holds no grudges. Fans who have watched their reality TV show can see that Ozzy pretty much has no bad bone in his body
“Ozzy only has respect for the guys in Maiden,” she told Metal Hammer, insisting he wasn’t even aware of what had gone down back then.
So, who was tossed off the lineup? That still remains under wraps. But whoever they are, it’s clear that they crossed the wrong woman on the wrong day.
Ozzy’s Grand Goodbye Still Packs a Punch
Despite the shake-up, Back to the Beginning still reads like the dream metal festival of the century. Set for July 5, the star-studded celebration will feature Metallica, Mastodon, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, Guns N’ Roses, Rival Sons, Slayer, and more.
On top of that, the event will include appearances from rock royalty like K.K. Downing, Billy Corgan, and Tom Morello, each set to perform with various supergroups throughout the day. Even Tool made it back onto the lineup after a brief scare where their name was missing from the livestream graphic.
And Ozzy? He’s ready to give fans one last show to remember.
Speaking to SiriusXM, the Prince of Darkness promised he’s not taking his last show lightly, rather giving it his all.
“All I can say is I’m giving 120%. If my God wants me to do the show, I’ll do it.” Ozzy said.
Sounds like Ozzy’s ready to go out with a scream, and Sharon’s making sure nothing and no one gets in the way. Back to Beginning will take place on July 5th at Villa Park, Birmingham. For those who still want to see the show but weren’t able to purchase tickets, they can watch via a pay-per-view live stream produced by Mercury Studios. Tickets are sold at $29.99, with a premium package work $64.98. The stream is set to start at 10:00 am EDT and will be available to rewatch for 48 hours.
