Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has opened up about her struggle with anxiety in an honest and empowering interview. She sat down with the “We Need to Talk” podcast on Tuesday, August 19, to speak to Paul C. Brunson and discussed how she was so anxious in September 2024 that she developed agoraphobia and could not leave her home.
Perrie Edwards Discusses Struggles With Anxiety
“It got really bad. I couldn’t leave the house in September…” Edwards said. “And it was so intense, and I remember thinking, ‘This is not what I want for my life.’”
She continued, “From my experience, I feel very … uneasy when I leave the house. And for me it was the case like, I didn’t want to go too far from home because it was too hard to get back.”
The “Forget About Us” singer also revealed that her home was her “safe space,” and for a while, she believed that if she stayed at home, nothing bad would happen. “And I kind of told myself, ‘In my house where I’m safe nothing can get me,” she shared. Nobody’s out to attack me. I’m not gonna have the panic attacks. I’m safe here.’”

Edwards’ struggles with anxiety prevented her from living her life to the fullest and even doing basic daily tasks like taking her young son out to appointments. She decided to seek therapy and was able to overcome the thoughts she had where her “inner child” was “scared of everything.”
“But I remember sitting down with my therapist saying, ‘I want to get married. I want to have more kids. I want to have a successful career. I want to do all these things,’” she recalled. “I’m capable of anything in my mind. But my capacity was not big. It was really minuscule and I just didn’t have the capacity at the time.”
Perry Edwards Sees the Light at the End of the Tunnel

Edwards is now able to do the things she needs to and wants to do. She revealed how, although they seemed “impossible” in September 2024, they are now possible, and she can look to the future. “I just couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel,” she said. “In my mind I thought, once I have a panic attack, ‘I’m done. I’m done. That’s it.’ I didn’t realize you could have a panic attack and then come out of the other end of it and think, ‘Oh, I’m alright.’”
The interview was shared on YouTube, which gave fans a chance to react to Edwards’ statement. She has received an outpouring of love and support.
“Perrie has healed so much over the years. Genuinely so happy for her,” a fan wrote. “Thank you, Paul, for giving Perrie a safe space. What a woman she is,” another shared.
“Listening to Perrie talk about and explain her experience of agoraphobia and panic disorder is heartbreaking to hear but also, as someone who has both for over a year, I’m glad she brought awareness to it and if you’re struggling and trying then it is welcoming to hear,” a fan commented.
Other reactions include, “What a heartbreaking episode. Perrie seems to be such a balance of vulnerable and strong, what a woman for sharing her most challenging experiences so honestly. Always rooting for the LM girls!,” and “It’s crazy how somebody so legendary can be such a humble, welcoming and nice person. She was part of the THIRD best selling girl band of ALL time!! She is a historical artifact…”
