Cyrus, 32, received two major honors at the event: Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year for her hit single “Flowers.” While speaking with Lowe, she admitted the wins meant more to her than she expected. “I think somewhere inside of me, I needed maybe to hold a trophy and just feel for a moment that I have something that I can hold in my hands that feels like a true achievement,” she shared.

Grammy Night Was ‘Healing’ for the Star

Although she wasn’t initially planning on attending the ceremony, Cyrus said she decided to go for personal reasons. She described the night as “bittersweet” and revealed she hosted a pre-Grammy celebration at the Chateau Marmont.

“One, it was, I was afraid, and there was fear. But I also don’t think I wanted to ever look at how much it would mean to me to win,” she explained.

Cyrus confessed she’d previously dismissed award losses by telling herself they didn’t matter. But her emotions leading up to the 2024 show told a different story. “Receiving that Grammy for ‘Flowers’ was like, it felt more like a Band-Aid on a broken heart in some way,” she admitted.

She said going to the Grammys was about more than winning—it was about closure. “And so at the Grammys, that’s why I went, it was actually for healing.”

Cyrus Hopes the Grammy Win Won’t Change Her

When Cyrus accepted the Grammy for Record of the Year, she gave a heartfelt speech that emphasized her gratitude—while also downplaying the idea that a trophy defines success.

“This award is amazing. But I really hope that it doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday,” she said. “Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular.”

She even acknowledged the moment during her live performance of “Flowers” at the ceremony.

In addition to her 2024 wins, Cyrus also picked up another Grammy in 2025. She and Beyoncé were awarded Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their collaboration “II MOST WANTED.”
