The 43-year-old New Orleans native, born Jermaine Anthony Preyan, took nearly two weeks to gather the emotional strength needed to announce his son’s death publicly. Isaiah, affectionately known as “Zeke,” was only 20 years old when he died, according to People.

“Been trying to build up the strength to put up this post since last night so bear with me,” Mack Maine began his lengthy Instagram caption. “I’m still in shock and still processing the fact that he’s gone. Still confused, still questioning life and why my child and not me.”
