Singer Jessie J Shares Good News Amid Health Battle

Singer Jessie J has been open about her battle with breast cancer. This includes her initial diagnosis and her subsequent health journey. Now, she has taken to social media to share good news after having a mastectomy. 

Jessie J posted a heartwarming video of her son from right before her operation. In it, she tells him to say, “Mommy’s gonna be okay,” which he does. The singer used the caption of the Instagram post to share that her cancer had not spread.

She said, “And…I AM OK. Results = I have NO cancer spread. Happy tears are real. Thank YOU for the prayers, the love, the well wishes, the joy, and all the positive energy.”

Jessie J continued in the post, “This video is from the night before my surgery • We called it baby boy. You are my biggest ray of light, and with you in my life, the darkness will never win. Lots of healing to go and one more surgery to make these cousins look more like sisters. But for now, it’s gratitude time, and I am changing my name to The LopJess monster.”

Jessie J Announced Her Cancer Diagnosis In June

According to The Guardian, Jessie J announced that she had been diagnosed with early breast cancer in June. She said at the time, “I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early.’”

The singer continued, “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive tits and more music.” Jessie J also shared why she wanted to open up about her battle with breast cancer. 

She said, “I just wanted to be open and share it. One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories. I’m an open book.”

She then said, “It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse – that’s the bit that kills me. The timing of it has been mad but also beautiful and given me this incredible perspective in this time.”

Jessie J also admitted, “But honestly, I need to process it and talk about it, and I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don’t want this to be any different.”

She Also Has New Music

Jessie J is going through quite a bit regarding her battle with breast cancer. However, she’s still forging ahead with new music. The powerhouse singer released a new single entitled “No Secrets” in April. Her latest song, “Living My Best Life,” was released in May. 

She spoke to Capital FM in May and announced that she has a new album on the way. She revealed, “Honestly, I just feel so grateful that I’m still able to do this. I’ve been doing this a long time, like [Do It Like A] Dude came out 15 years ago.”

Jessie J added, “I’ve done a lot, this is my fifth album that’s going to be coming out later this year… that was an exclusive!”
