Jessie J is speaking candidly about the changes she’s faced since her mastectomy. On August 12, the 37-year-old singer shared on Instagram that her hair has been falling out “like crazy” following her June surgery for early breast cancer.

Filming from a closet, the “Price Tag” artist combed her shoulder-length hair and said, “You can see how curly my hair is. I’m gonna do my hair and makeup myself.” She added with a laugh, “It’s cold outside, Santa Claus is coming to town. My hair has been falling out like crazy since the surgery.”
Five Weeks Post-Surgery & Still Healing
Jessie J said it had been five weeks since her mastectomy and noted she was dealing with “quite a lot of cording,” which has become her main focus. Placing her hands on her chest, she shared, “This is the implant, still so sore. And then this is my old. ‘Aww, you’re not old.’” She admitted her breasts “still aren’t even.”
She also mentioned her son, Sky Safir, whom she shares with partner Chanan Safir Colman, had been away for two weeks, and that she was doing her best to balance motherhood, recovery, and work. “I know I can’t do everything that I was supposed to be doing but I just want to be able to make it work the best I can… in the right order,” she said.
A Changed Perspective on Life

The Grammy nominee reflected on how her outlook has shifted since her diagnosis and surgery. “It’s so hard like you are always gonna leave some people disappointed,” she said. “My perspective of everything has changed so much.”
She described her Instagram video as “a minute and a bit of me being frantic and oversharing 🙂 (This video is 2 weeks old).”
Another Surgery Ahead Amid Recovery Challenges
Jessie J also revealed she will need another surgery this year. “Another surgery needed this year. I can do it. ✔️ Raising a toddler. I can do it. ✔️ Releasing new music. I can do it. ✔️,” she wrote on Instagram, noting it had been seven weeks since her initial operation and she was “still in the thick of recovery.”
Her update came after she was hospitalized for a suspected blood clot in her lungs six weeks post-surgery. Despite the setbacks, Jessie J continues to share her recovery journey openly with her fans, offering an honest glimpse into both the challenges and resilience of life after a mastectomy.
