Jessie J is ready to share an emotional glimpse into her journey with breast cancer recovery. The “Price Tag” singer, 37, revealed in a candid interview with The Sunday Times that she is still processing her diagnosis & surgery.
“The other night, mum was massaging my boob for me, because I can’t touch the scars. And I started sobbing, ‘I can’t believe this has happened.’ She was like, ‘I wish it was me,’ and then I’m crying, she’s crying … I’m so glad it’s not her,” Jessie recalled.
Jessie J on Mastectomy & Waiting for Second Surgery Despite Clear Margins

After doctors found a tumor, she underwent a mastectomy. While she was relieved to learn her margins were clear, meaning the surrounding tissue was cancer-free, but she’s staying cautious about the future. “People think, once you’ve got the all-clear, now it’s done,” she said. “But I’ve got another surgery and I need to heal.”
Balancing Surgery, Motherhood & Music
In a recent Instagram post, Jessie detailed how she’s navigating recovery while raising her two-year-old son, Sky Safir, whom she shares with boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman.

“Another surgery needed this year. I can do it. ✔️ Raising a toddler. I can do it. ✔️ Releasing new music. I can do it. ✔️” she wrote, alongside a golden-lit video of herself taking a deep breath. “I can rest, parent AND release new music. I didn’t leave a major label after 18 years to be scared to rewrite the rules to fit around my life/health.”

She also teased August 29 as a significant date, likely tied to her new album release.
Jessie Details Hospital Scare Amid Recovery
Earlier this month, Jessie J was hospitalized with chest pain, leading doctors to suspect a blood clot. Thankfully, tests ruled out anything severe, and she was discharged with medication to treat an infection.
“I am 7 weeks post-breast cancer surgery,” she shared. “I’m still in the thick of recovery and my body is still finding its way. But I LOVE music and I LOVE my life and I want to LIVE in the moment.”
How Jessie is Finding Strength in Change
The “Bang Bang” hitmaker says she’s learning to adapt to life’s unexpected turns. “That’s life, things change and either we panic and get mad that it isn’t what it was going to be, or we ADAPT,” she wrote.
Jessie added that she’s “just flowing with life” and discovering new parts of herself through motherhood & health challenges. “Life is layered and has highs and lows and we just have to keep living through all of it, the best we can. So here I am. LIVING.”
