Jennifer Lopez Is Thriving Following Her Divorce from Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez has been through several highs and lows in her life and career. One of the lows was the divorce from Ben Affleck. Now, one year later, the former “American Idol” judge is thriving, both personally and professionally, and the same seems to be true for him. 

An insider spoke to PEOPLE in August 2025 about Lopez’s life post-divorce from Affleck. They told the outlet, “She’s been having the time of her life this summer. She loved connecting with fans all over the world. The tour was amazing. It’s been a great focus for her. She’s been doing what she really enjoys.”

Lopez also has a new movie coming out. It’s called “Kiss of the Spider Woman” and there’s already early buzz centered around the film, with some saying it could land her an Oscar nomination.

The source continued, “This is the movie she filmed last year in New York when she and Ben were going through a difficult time. She’s come a long way since. She’s very happy and just grateful for her life.”

They Both Remain Busy These Days

As mentioned, Lopez is starring in “Kiss of the Spider Woman.” The film debuts in movie theaters on October 10, 2025. In addition to her, it stars Tonatiuh, Diego Luna, Josefina Scaglione, and Bruno Bichir. Bill Condon directed the upcoming movie. 

Categorized as a musical/thriller, “Kiss of the Spider Woman” is about a political prisoner, played by Lopez, who forms an unlikely bond with a man, played by Tonatiuh. The movie is based on the 1976 novel of the same name. Additionally, Lopez embarked on her “Up All Night: Live” tour from July until August and will begin a Las Vegas residency of the same name in December.

Of course, Affleck also remains busy following his divorce from Lopez. According to Deadline, his next film, “The Rip,” will premiere on Netflix on January 16, 2026.

Lopez and Affleck Separated in 2024

Lopez and Affleck have a long history with one another when it comes to their romance. They began dating in 2002 after meeting on the set of “Gigli.” Following that, the two became engaged before splitting up in 2024. 

Fast forward to 2021, and the two lovebirds reunited. According to US Weekly, this led to them tying the knot on July 17 in Las Vegas. Their wedding was initially a secret, but the songstress released photos from the event hours after. Notably, her song, “Midnight Trip to Vegas,” is about their wedding. 

Sadly, the marriage didn’t last. They separated in April 2024 and filed for divorce on August 20, 2024. The divorce became finalized in January 2025.
