Foster the People just dropped a double-feature music video and it stars none other than Julia Garner, aka Emmy-winning actress, fashion icon, and also, casually, lead singer Mark Foster’s wife.

The band’s new visuals for “See You in the Afterlife” and “Feed Me” aren’t just vibey; they’re a full-on surreal trip. Think glitchy dreamworld meets digital meltdown with Garner at the center of it all, making the whole thing feel even more intimate and oddly beautiful.

According to People, Foster says the two-part video is basically what it would look like if a late-night doomscroll turned into an actual fever dream. “See You in the Afterlife,” he said, is a “satirical take on what life feels like now,” while “Feed Me” brings the emotional chaos that follows. And yes, it’s just as haunting as it sounds. 

Art Imitates Life (With a Lot More Static)

Honestly, Foster and Garner aren’t exactly an oversharing, Hollywood-it-couple type. They’ve kept things low-key since getting married in a private NYC courthouse ceremony back in 2019 after meeting at Sundance. So the fact that Julia stars in this project? That’s huge. It’s a rare, artistic peek into their creative chemistry, and it works.

Foster called the experience of working with her “like stepping into a lucid hallucination—a secret world stitched together by static and memory,” per People. Which, poetic much? But hey, it fits. The entire video plays out like a living art piece, directed by Laura Gordon, Jackson James, and Ryan Ohm. It leans hard into mood, metaphor, and that quiet sense of modern disconnection we all pretend isn’t creeping up on us.

“Paradise State of Mind,” the band’s most recent album, was released in August 2024 and they have been on tour from January 2025 – March 2025. The album is way more experimental, cinematic, and emotionally raw than their past work, marking a change for the band.
