Diana Ross is one of the most influential artists of all time, as her career dates back to the iconic Motown era of music. Because of this, she remains in high demand and still makes appearances today. Sadly, the “I’m Coming Out” singer recently had to cancel a Royal Caribbean appearance.
According to PEOPLE, Ross was set to appear on the Royal Caribbean Star of the Seas showcase later in August. However, she can no longer honor the commitment. Her representative said in a statement, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Diana Ross will be unable to appear.”
Notably, Ross’s cancellation comes two months after Royal Caribbean made her the official “godmother” of the Icon Class ship for the trip. Regarding the voyage, it will begin on August 20. The ship will depart Port Canaveral in Florida and conclude with guests visiting Royal Caribbean’s private Perfect Day at CocoCay location. This is a three-day cruise.
Royal Caribbean Has Issued a Statement about Ross’s Cancellation
There was considerable excitement from people who were going on the voyage with Ross. However, no one can prevent unforeseen circumstances from happening. Following her cancellation, Royal Caribbean has issued a statement.
The representative said, “We are disappointed that Diana Ross is unable to join us to be godmother of Star of the Seas. We look forward to announcing our new godmother soon.”
Regarding the excitement, it seems Ross felt it as well. Upon Royal Caribbean announcing her to be a part of the voyage, she said to PEOPLE, “I’ve always felt a deep connection to the ocean and the magic it represents — peace, adventure, and awe. When Royal Caribbean reached out to invite me to be the godmother of Star of the Seas, I knew it was something truly special.”
She went on, “The family has been invited, and all the grandkids. That’s really what this ship is all about: joy and family fun.”
She Remains Busy These Days
Ross began her music career in 1959. According to the Detroit Historical Society, the singer and actress has sold more than 100 million records. Despite this, she remains quite busy these days. Her latest album, “Thank You,” was released in 2021, and Entertainment Weekly gave it a positive review, calling it a love letter to her fans.
Ross also has the “Beautiful Love Tour” scheduled for 2025, with dates extending to December. This comes after the legendary singer also toured in 2024.
