It’s been weeks since Ticketmaster prematurely listed tickets for a supposed joint tour by Brandy and Monica featuring special guests. Time passed, and neither singer confirmed the news, leading many fans to assume the tour wouldn’t happen.
Now, the “The Boy Is Mine” tour is official, as both singers confirmed to CBS Mornings that they are hitting the road this fall. The tour will include arenas in 24 different cities in the U.S., starting on October 16th in Cincinnati. It will end on December 7th in Houston.
Notably, the Brandy and Monica tour marks 27 years since the singers released “The Boy Is Mine,” which spent an impressive 13 consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart —a record that has yet to be broken. The tour will feature Kelly Rowland, Muni Long, and American Idol’s Jamal Roberts. Fans can buy tickets starting on June 27th.
They Have Both Remained Active In Their Respective Careers
Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine,” which is from Brandy’s “Never Say Never” album, may have been 27 years ago, but they both remain quite busy. Brandy released her seventh studio album, “B7,” in 2020 to critical acclaim. She also released “Christmas with Brandy” in 2023 via Motown Records.
Brandy also appeared in “Descendants: The Rise of Red” in 2024 and has been confirmed to be in the upcoming Disney film as well. Additionally, she starred in A24’s “The Front Room” in 2024 and is working on a new album. She was also recently named one of the greatest R&B singers of all time by Billboard.
Regarding Monica, she’s no stranger to the stage these days. The singer frequently performs at R&B festivals and has been a part of other tours in more recent years. Monica has also released singles and has expressed plans for a new album.
Brandy & Monica Have Reunited Multiple Times Over the Years
In addition to the upcoming “The Boy Is Mine” tour, Brandy and Monica have reunited multiple times in recent years. The two competed in a 2020 Verzuz battle, which gained popularity during the pandemic, featuring artists using their respective musical catalogs to battle. According to Billboard, more than 1.2 million people tuned in to the event.
Brandy and Monica also teamed up with Ariana Grande in 2024 for the remix of “The Boy Is Mine.” Notably, the remix was for Ariana’s version of the song, not their hit from the 1990s. They also appeared in the music video.
