Billy Joel Shares Rare Family Photo of Young Daughter

Billy Joel is sharing a rare family photo to celebrate his daughter’s birthday.

The singer took to Instagram Tuesday, Aug. 12, to celebrate his daughter Della Rose’s milestone 10th birthday with rare, sun-drenched family photos.

In one standout image, Joel sits beachside with his wife, Alexis Roderick, and their two daughters, Della and 7-year-old Remy Anne. The family was on vacation, as pigs were seen roaming by.

Joel also included a sweet throwback video featuring a much-younger Della, toddling through their home. In the video, she referred to her famous dad as “Piano Man.” The adorable video concluded with her stating that he was upstairs.

In his heartfelt caption, Joel expressed how fast the time has already gone.

“Happy 10th birthday Della Rose. We are so proud of your sweet nature, empathy for others and endless love,” he wrote. “You see everything through caring eyes. We could not ask for anything more. We all love you beyond measure. How did we get to 10 years already? It seems like just yesterday you were running around the house looking for ‘Piano Man’”.

Joel Is a Family Man

Joel shares Della and Remy with his fourth wife, Alexis Roderick.

He also has an adult daughter, Alexa Ray, 39, from his marriage to ex-wife Christie Brinkley. Alexa has frequently performed with her father during concerts, as she is also a singer.

However, she isn’t the only one. Della and Remy even joined him in July 2024 during the finale of his Madison Square Garden residency, with Della grabbing the microphone at one point, E! News reported at the time.

The two were on stage as he performed his classic “My Life.”

Della told the crowd, “Thank you, Madison Square Garden,” causing Joel to chime in. “I guess it’s her life now,” he said. “Thanks, girls.”

Joel Has Had a Difficult 2025

Despite the focus on family joy, 2025 has been a challenging year for the New York icon.

In late May, Joel canceled all upcoming concerts following a diagnosis of normal-pressure hydrocephalus. He issued a statement expressing how performing made his condition worse.

Joel has been quiet for the most part since the news was released. However, in July, he reassured fans during a candid appearance on Bill Maher’s podcast.

The 76-year-old bravely opened up about how he was doing.

“My balance sucks,” Joel told Maher. “It’s like being on a boat.”

“I feel good,” Joel added. “They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder, so it sounds a lot worse than what I’m feeling.”
