Popular Atlanta Hip-Hop Artist Passes Away – He Will Be Missed

A rising hip-hop music star from Atlanta is gone too soon. Rapper Tevin Hood, who went by “T-Hood,” was found fatally shot at his Gwinnett County home, TMZ reported on August 9, 2025. He is survived by a daughter, according to the Sun.

The report says emergency personnel performed first-aid and transported the 33-year-old to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The death is being investigated as a homicide, and a suspect has been detained, per the story. There is currently no information on a motive.

The report says Hood’s mother, Yulunda, confirmed her son’s death.

T-Hood’s Fans Paid Tribute on Instagram

After the news broke of his death, fans flooded his Instagram comments with reactions. The rapper’s final post, a video in which he reminisced about party days with a friend, was created a week ago.

One fan said they were “heartbroken,” adding, “I don’t want to believe this at all.”

Another wrote, “They always take the best ones,” before declaring the rapper’s light was “too bright for this world.”

Another praised Hood for being “so real” and exclaimed, “I can’t believe it,” after questioning “what happened?”

T-Hood Released His Final Song In May 2025

The artist’s final single, “Girls In the Party,” was released May 12, 2025. He was best known for hits such as “READY 2 GO” and “Perculator.”

Hood’s oldest sister, whose Instagram handle is @shopbadaddict, took to her Stories to repost several social media tributes shared by others for her brother, before writing one of her own.

Hood’s sister started her message by saying the rapper was her mom’s only son, and calling him “the one who helped me most.” She also called the rising star “my best friend,” and said she “always known for being T-Hood’s little sister.”

She also listed some of his best attributes, calling him “friendly, talented, and motivational.”

Towards the end of the emotional note, she wrote, “Tevin, I’m sorry I couldn’t save you but I will forever love and live for you.”

Hood joins a long list of hip-hop stars to leave us too soon at a young age. Young Scooter is one of those, whom XXL says fatally injured his leg after a police confrontation which resulted from a 911 call placed by a person who was subsequently arrested and charged with making a false report.

“Mask Off” rapper and Atlanta icon “Future” said of Scooter’s death, “Life will never be the same without you, my brother.”

DJ Unk, Irv Gotti, and Lotto Savage are among the other artists we lost this year.
