Floribama Shore Cast Member Passes Away After Castmates Rally to Help

After “Floribama Shore” star Nilsa Prowant posted a video sharing that her castmate Kirk Medas was in the ICU on a ventilator, some of the others from MTV’s former show also posted in support. Unfortunately, according to Deadline, Medas has died.

“Floribama Shore” Executive Producer SallyAnn Salsano and production company 495 Productions released a statement to TMZ that said, “We are heartbroken over the passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of our Floribama Shore family. Kirk brought light, laughter, and loyalty to every moment—both on screen and off. He was more than a cast member; he was family. Our hearts are with his loved ones, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We will forever cherish the joy and memories he gave us.”

Prowant first revealed that Medas is in an intensive care unit on a ventilator, fighting necrotizing pancreatitis. Necrotizing pancreatitis is a health problem in which part of your pancreas dies because of inflammation or injury,” per Ceders Sinai.

She also shared that the family had started a GoFundMe to help with the medical bills.

Aimee Hall Posts Photo of Kirk Medas in Hospital Along With A Long Message

Aimee Hall posted a long message along with numerous photos of Medas. The first one was of him in the hospital on a ventilator.

“Our friend Kirk has been in the ICU for over two weeks now, battling a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis. He’s currently on a ventilator, and the situation is incredibly serious. Nilsa has been flying back and forth to Miami to be by his side, and I’ve been lucky enough to stay connected through FaceTime with his roommates and close friends who’ve been keeping us updated daily,” Hall wrote on Instagram. “Kirk does not have medical insurance, and his sweet, strong mother has created a GoFundMe to help with the overwhelming expenses. If you’re able to give, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if you can’t, your prayers mean just as much.

“Please pray for Kirk.
Pray for his mother.
Pray for his friends.
And pray for his castmates—we’re all hurting watching our brother fight this battle,” she added. “Thank you for your love and support.”

Hall followed it up with another post, thanking everyone for reaching out and donating to help Medas.

“We want to sincerely thank everyone who has reached out to us— @nilsaprowant @thisiscandacerenee @mattielynnbreaux @code_eye10 and @guscalebsmyrnios —regarding @kirkmedas If we haven’t responded yet, please know it’s only because we’ve been overwhelmed with calls and messages. Every comment, prayer, and kind word has meant the world to us. Your love and support have not gone unnoticed. We truly believe Kirk will walk out of this, and your faith is helping carry us through. We’ll return messages as soon as we can. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” Hall wrote on Instagram on May 2.

Candace Rice Asked Fans To Help

Another former castmate who asked fans to help Medas on her Instagram story with an emotional post was Candice Rice, who shared a close-up photo of Medas in the hospital.

“Seeing your friend like this is heartbreaking. Y’all please, if you can support @kirkmedas GoFundMe… and if you can’t, please keep him in the heart of your prayers,” Rice wrote and linked the GoFundMe.

After her plea to fans, Prowant shared an update and also thanked everyone for their support.

“Thank you all so much for the overwhelming love, prayers, donations, messages, and support for Kirk. He’s been in the ICU on a ventilator for two weeks now, fighting necrotizing pancreatitis and sepsis. Watching someone you love go through something so painful and uncertain is heartbreaking, but your messages, prayers, and kind words have truly lifted us in this dark time. His mama is so grateful for every single one of you..and i know Kirk will be too. Please keep praying for him…he’s strong, and we’re believing in healing, recovery, and a miracle.
