Kourtney Kardashian Steps Up & Thanks Fans After Serious Backlash

Celebrities aren’t perfect, and many are readily willing to admit their mistakes. After an Instagram photo carousel from August 8, 2025, led to some backlash from fans, Kourtney Kardashian Barker stepped up and did the right thing. In the original post, Kardashian Barker included a sweet photo of her son, Rocky Thirteen. The photo was adorable, but fans spotted one major issue: the little boy wasn’t wearing a life vest.

Instead of avoiding the issue or defending her mistake, Kardashian Barker owned it. As People reported, the star responded to negative comments in her Instagram stories. “Update: bought a life vest that fits!” she wrote. However, she took it one step further and thanked her fans for their concern. “Thank you for making me aware, and hopefully this helps make other mommies aware of the dangers of certain types of boating without a life vest,” she wrote.

Although fans on Reddit readily called Kardashian Barker out for Rocky’s lack of a life vest, some also took the time to praise the mom of four for her post. “They actually give off the vibes of the trip, not just endless thirst traps from slightly different angles,” one netizen said of the star’s vacation photos. The post included shots of meals she ate on the trip, as well as picturesque outdoor scenes. One image shows a cup with a label that subtly hints that the family was in Idaho.

Some fans also tried to defend the questionable photo, saying Kardashian Barker may have removed her son’s life vest for the sake of breastfeeding, since there appears to be a vest on the seat next to them. While others noted that this is no excuse for potentially jeopardizing his safety, Kardashian Barker has been very open about how important breastfeeding her youngest child is to her. As People reported, the proud mom included the photo as part of an Instagram story honoring World Breastfeeding Week.

Rocky Thirteen is Her First Child With Travis Barker

Kardashian Barker married Travis Barker in May 2022, and Rocky is their first child together. The two have a beautiful blended family, which includes children from previous marriages on both sides. However, the pair may be looking to expand their brood even further. As In Touch reported in February 2025, the couple may look to a surrogate for baby number two.

“Kourtney has been very open about wanting another baby with Travis,” a source explained, saying that the couple is open to surrogacy if traditional methods aren’t effective. “If that’s the only way to make it happen, she’s open to it,” the source said. “She’s got the full support of Travis on this because he wants another baby, or two, with her as well.” No official surrogacy plans have been announced as of this publication, but fans could potentially see another Kardashian/Barker baby in the future.
