Kim Kardashian Playfully Claps Back at Rumor She Left North in Paris Hotel

Kim Kardashian is addressing a persistent rumor that she left her daughter, North West, behind in a Paris hotel more than a decade ago.

Setting the Record Straight

In a since-expired Instagram Stories post shared on July 11, the reality TV star, 44, responded to old speculation that she had walked out of Le Royal Monceau hotel in 2014 without her then-toddler. According to E! News, Kardashian explained the moment was misunderstood.

“I wanted to show off the look before holding her bc her outfit didn’t match mine!” Kardashian wrote in the post.

The moment in question stems from paparazzi footage taken in 2014, showing the SKIMS founder exiting the hotel alone. Dressed in a pale pink two-piece set with a gray coat draped over her shoulders, she walked toward a waiting vehicle before briefly reentering the building. Moments later, she reemerged holding North.

“I didn’t forget her!!!!” Kardashian added, once again calling out what she says is a misconception.

A Decade-Old Joke Lives On

This isn’t the first time Kardashian has spoken out about the incident. In October 2014, not long after the original footage went viral, she tweeted, “Do u guys really think a 1 year old would be inside the lobby by herself!” She followed up the tweet with a joke, writing, “Oh wait she was waiting to check out lol.”

Kardashian shares North, 12, with ex-husband Kanye West, along with three other children: Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6.

In honor of North’s recent birthday, Kardashian posted a heartfelt tribute to her daughter on June 15, writing in part, “My little baby North turns 12 years old today. We were looking at pics today together and laughing so hard, you were so small. It’s been the most special calling being your mom. I love you forever and got you forever my bubs.”

Despite the fashion clash in Paris years ago, Kardashian says North has grown into one of her most trusted style critics.

“Every time I come to the Met, I love bringing my oldest daughter with me, just to see me get ready and all her aunties are in the hotel, and we’re all getting ready together,” Kardashian told Vogue correspondent Emma Chamberlain at the 2025 Met Gala in May. “So it’s just a fun few days.”

“She’s a big critiquer, but it’s pretty good, you know, her critiquing,” Kardashian continued. “But you know just be yourself, right? She’s … also, I think, in a really positive place, like vibe, right now, where it’s just like, ‘Hey, even if that’s not my style, I’m not going to critique that because just be you and if you like that then that’s what you should be into.'”
