Khloe Kardashian is in her “deep in her truth” era—and honestly? We’re eating it up. The Good American founder is trading filters for facts and Photoshop for self-love, and she’s not holding back. In the July 17 episode of her podcast “Khloe in Wonderland,” the 41-year-old reality star opened up about her past struggles with heavily editing her photos.
“I don’t [Photoshop anymore],” she said. “But there was a time that I definitely did. There was a time that I was around some people that would make me feel like I needed to.”
Kardashian added that part of it was cultural. “I also think it was the era too. I felt like a lot of people were Photoshopping or heavily Photoshopping more than they do now.”
“We Got Consumed in the Filter Lifestyle”

Reflecting on the past, Khloe said she believes filters have become an unhealthy norm for many people, including herself. “I do feel like there was a time that we all just got consumed in this filter lifestyle and we couldn’t see ourselves without a filter.”
She admitted there are still days she feels self-conscious: “There’s definitely days that I’m like, ugh, I need a filter. Don’t feel good about myself. But I’m on video. And I do like myself better in video than stills.”
While she doesn’t believe she’s “the most photogenic,” she’s okay taking 500 photos to find one she likes. “I’m allowed to do that,” she added.
“It’s Humiliating, I Thought That Was Me”
Kardashian admitted she now cringes at how far she used to go with editing. “I look like a cartoon character in those photos. It’s humiliating that I thought that was even a version of myself.”
She added that being surrounded by others who filtered everything made her believe it was normal: “If they took my photo, they would make me look that way before giving it to me. And then I would think that’s how I looked.”
Over time, she realized she needed to “reprogram” her mind. “This isn’t real. That’s not how I look. And I don’t want to look like that. It was a strange time.”
How Khloe Approaches Photos Now
Today, Khloe’s social media photos still have polish—but not Photoshop. “I like to have good lighting,” she explained. “I definitely have more controlled photos like good lighting, and I might take a bunch to get the ones I like. But I don’t have to Photoshop every photo.”
Fans Have Called Her Out Before
Khloe has long faced public scrutiny for allegedly altering her photos. In 2018, after sharing a tribute to her mother, Kris Jenner, fans accused her of excessive editing. When someone asked if she’d keep Instagram if all editing apps were banned, she replied: “Would you?”
She added: “Sometimes I wonder why people comment if it adds no value to one’s life… Don’t add to the hatred in our world.”
She’s Also Open About Cosmetic Work
This new transparency follows her recent Instagram confession where she listed the cosmetic procedures she’s had done, including a nose job, Botox, filler, and “collagen baby threads” under her chin. She also shared that she’s lost 80 pounds over the years.
Khloe’s message today? Self-image is a journey—and she’s still writing the rules for hers, filters not included.
