Justin Bieber Delivers Rare Live Performance with R&B Star

R&B star SZA shocked audiences at Los Angeles’ So-Fi Stadium on Friday, May 23, when she welcomed pop sensation Justin Bieber to join her in a performance of her remixed track “Snooze.” The surprise performance came on the second night of LA shows for Kendrick Lamar’s Grand National Tour.

On the first LA stop of the tour, SZA welcomed rapper Lizzo as the night’s surprise musical guest to perform a remix of SZA’s 2022 hit “Special.”

Bieber & SZA’s ‘Snooze’ Performance is Anything but Tired

As SZA brought Bieber onto the So-Fi stage on Friday, the “Baby” singer’s presence sent the audience into a frenzy.

Bieber took to the stage in an all-black outfit, including a Balenciaga jacket. Together he and SZA took turns singing the chorus of “Snooze,” before dancing through the rest of the track together.

Bieber has collaborated with the five-time-Grammy-nominee in the past. The duo notably recorded an acoustic version of “Snooze” in 2023 after Bieber Bieber appeared in the song’s music video alongside Young Mazino, Woody McClain and Benny Blanco.

Apart from features, however, Bieber hasn’t released any solo music since he dropped the one-off track “Honest” featuring Tolier in 2022. His appearance at Friday’s Kendrick Lamar concert similarly marked the singer’s first stadium-size performance since he appeared at Coachella in 2024.

Is This a Sign of New Bieber Music to Come?

Bieber has been notably absent from the music scene since releasing his last studio album “Justice” in 2021, with concerns for the singer’s health being raised after he cancelled his Justice Tour a year before its scheduled end date.

The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that the singer was facing financial pressures due to his hiatus, but it hasn’t been all bad for the singer over the last few years. In addition to marrying Rhode-founder and model Hailey Baldwin (now Bieber), the couple similarly celebrated the birth of their son, Jack Blues Bieber, in August 2024.

Fans who have been following the star since his meteoric rise to fame at just 15 years old will be glad to hear, however, that Bieber is indeed working on new music. THR previously reported that the singer, now 31, is hard at work on his follow-up to “Justice,” with plans to travel abroad to “vibe out” and finish the album in an undisclosed Nordic country.

Despite his hiatus, demand for Bieber’s music remains high, with 17 of the singer’s previous tracks having amassed more than a billion streams each on Spotify.
