American model and businesswoman Hailey Bieber is sharing new details about the birth of her and Canadian singer Justin Bieber’s son, Jack, and the serious postpartum complication she faced shortly after. In a new Vogue cover interview, the model and entrepreneur described the experience as “a little bit scary.”
The 28-year-old revealed that after preparing for childbirth with yoga and pelvic-floor therapy, she went into labor at 39 weeks and was induced using Pitocin and a Foley balloon. Hailey labored for 18 hours without an epidural and said, “That was not fun. They broke my water. I went into labor and I labored for a few hours. No epidural, nothing.”
After Jack’s birth in August 2024, Hailey suffered a severe postpartum hemorrhage and had to be treated with a Jada device to contract her uterus and stop the bleeding. She recalled trusting her medical team but admitted the thought of dying crossed her mind during the crisis.
Hailey also opened up about the emotional challenges she faced since giving birth, including body dysmorphia and navigating online scrutiny. “Being postpartum is the most sensitive time I’ve ever gone through in my life, and learning a new version of myself is very difficult,” she said. “And to be doing that all the while going on the internet every day and people being like, They’re getting divorced and They’re this and They’re not happy: … I cannot even begin to explain it. It’s a crazy life to live.”
She’s leaned on daily affirmations and self-compassion to stay grounded through it all, reminding herself of the strength it took to grow and deliver a baby.
Justin Bieber Shows Public Support—Despite Mixed Reactions
As Hailey’s Vogue cover made headlines, Justin Bieber reposted the image on Instagram with a now-edited caption. Reportedly in the previous edit, he recalled a past argument in which he told Hailey she’d “never be on the cover of Vogue.” He publicly apologized for the comment, called it immature, and reflected on how far they’ve come.
While some fans viewed the confession as honest and vulnerable, others had mixed feelings. Still, many praised him for being transparent about their growth as a couple.
In the Vogue article, Justin said marrying Hailey was the “smartest thing” he’s ever done, admitting he’s made “a lot of dumb things” but not that decision. He also called her a “superhero,” applauding her strength during labor and motherhood.
The couple both acknowledged the public scrutiny surrounding their relationship, especially in the postpartum period. Hailey said she’s adopted Justin’s mindset when it comes to online speculation: “You’re not going to win. There is no winning.”
Hailey and Justin on Future Family Plans
While the postpartum period brought physical and emotional challenges, Hailey said she’s open to growing their family. “A kid at a time,” she shared.
Justin continues to support Hailey personally and professionally. Shortly after her Vogue interview dropped, he reposted her Rhode Skin collaboration with Sephora on his Instagram story and captioned it: “Damn I know u been excited for this babesss.”
