Tarek El Moussa Upset Heather Rae When He Didn’t Include Her in a House Flipping Decision
HGTV‘s “The Flipping El Moussas” follows Tarek and Heather Rae as they buy homes, renovate them, and flip them for a profit.
On a recent episode of the show, Tarek revealed how he made a home buying decision — and rather than including Heather Rae in the process, he flipped a coin!
Tarek and Adam Lindholm, the president of their real estate investment firm, TEM Capital, couldn’t agree on whether a $710,000 property was worth the investment. Instead of discussing it with Heather Rae, Tarek flipped a coin. If it landed on heads, they would buy the property. It landed heads-up.
Tarek later told Heather Rae how they came to buy a new house, and she was left stunned.
“Well, lovey, I think we bought a house,” Tarek told her.
She responded, “What do you mean? You better not have.”
Heather Rae asked, “You bought a house … you didn’t even call me or talk to me?”
“Well, we were under the gun,” he argued, before admitting, “Honestly, I’m iffy on the house.”
She asked, “Wait, then why did we buy it?”
When Tarek explained, “Adam felt more confident and we flipped a coin and …,” Heather Rae’s jaw literally dropped.
“You didn’t think calling your wife might be a little bit better than flipping a coin?” she asked.
“That’s how we always used to do it,” he told her.
“Flipping houses is a gamble. It’s not the best idea to buy a house, you know, based on flipping a coin, but the market we’re in is tough,” Tarek admitted. “There is no inventory, right? There is a ton of competition. And this agent wants an answer today. So if we want to be in the game, like, we — we have to take some risks.”

On January 16, Tarek took to Instagram to share a clip from the episode and asked, “What do you guys think is crazier? Buying a house without consulting the wife or leaving it up to a coin toss … 😬🫣 — Let us know.”
One fan answered, “Buying without consulting,” to which Tarek responded, “Oops.”
Another fan noted, “You got in trouble that day lol.”
Someone else pointed out, “Dude!!! Big Trouble!! Not telling your wife. You’re a team, remember!! No amount of coins will make that right.”
Another fan simply said, “Not cool, Tarek.”
