HGTV has packed its April 2025 schedule with new shows, from kicking off the sixth season of “Rock the Block” to debuting the new series “Castle Impossible.”
On April 4, the network added one more surprise to the schedule: a new season of “Vacation House Rules” with real estate investor and contractor Scott McGillivray and his designer, Debra Salmoni — music to the ears of fans in the U.S. who have wondered whether the Canadian-based show would air again on HGTV.
Season 6 of “Vacation House Rules” is already scheduled to premiere on Canada’s new Home Network on April 7. For U.S. fans, HGTV now says it will debut on April 26.

Scott McGillivray Says He’s Been ‘Blessed’ to Do What He Loves
In “Vacation House Rules,” McGillivray renovates vacation homes alongside designer and friend Debra Salmoni. Together, the duo transform spaces in ways that will help their clients create new revenue streams by renting out the getaways. Filmed in Ontario, the series typically premieres in Canada weeks before making its way to U.S. airwaves.
McGillivray, who is married with two daughters, first appeared on HGTV Canada on “Income Property” in 2009. He’s also helmed the Canadian series “Moving the McGillivrays,” “Buyers Bootcamp,” and “Renovation Resort Showdown” with his longtime friend and fellow HGTV star Bryan Baeumler. In 2024, he pitched in on HGTV’s “100 Day Hotel Challenge” with Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt.
On April 3, McGillivray told CTV that he’s grateful for every chance he gets to keep doing what he loves.
“I like fixing things, that’s what I love to do,” he told the outlet. “So, fortunately for me, I get to get up every day find something wrong and try to fix it, whether it’s a real estate challenge or a renovation challenge or a design challenge. You know, I’ve been kind of blessed to be able to share that with everybody throughout the shows for so many years.”
