HGTV Postpones 2 Out of 3 ‘Property Brothers’ Series

Amid a flurry of surprising series cancellations and schedule changes on HGTV since mid-June 2025, two of three “Property Brothers” shows starring Drew and Jonathan Scott have been postponed without explanation.

Fans were quietly tipped off to the changes on July 8, with an Instagram Story notification that the July 10 premiere date of the brothers’ new series “Chasing the West” had been pushed back several weeks to July 30. Meanwhile, the second season of “Don’t Hate Your House With the Property Brothers” has been delayed from July 30 to “later this year,” per an updated press release.

A new season of the twins’ hit series “Celebrity IOU” will begin airing as scheduled, though, premiering on July 9 at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The premiere episode features “Superman” star Rachel Brosnahan, working with the brothers as she renovates her best friend’s family’s kitchen and dining area “into a chef’s dream.”

Some Fans Complained That HGTV Was Premiering 3 ‘Property Brothers’ Shows While Canceling 5 Other Series

Since June 17, the stars of five shows have shared on social media that their popular series have been canceled — Jonathan Knight’s “Farmhouse Fixer,” Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson’s “Married to Real Estate,” Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas’ “Bargain Block,” Izzy Battres’ new show “Izzy Does It,” and the competition show “Battle on the Beach” starring Alison Victoria, Taniya Nayak and Ty Pennington.

It’s not known if the schedule changes to Drew and Jonathan’s shows, which they’ve already heavily promoted online and in interviews, are directly connected to the programming shakeup happening at HGTV.

But it’s possible the delays are in response to many fans who complained on social media that the Property Brothers had three shows premiering in July at the same time other series were getting cut. Each time HGTV has tried to promote Drew and Jonathan’s upcoming series, there’s been mixed reactions in the comment sections. While plenty of fans are excited to see new shows from the duo, many others have protested.

On an Instagram post about the “Celebrity IOU” season premiere, one fan wrote, “We love Rachel and the Brothers BUT we won’t be watching any more @hgtv since the string of cancellations of better shows!”

Another commented, “No offense to Rachel, love her, but I’m totally over the brothers. Won’t watch. Bring back the shows you just canceled!”

On Facebook, someone else wrote, “What do the Brothers have, that the others don’t have? I don’t get it. Cancelled my HGTV”

“The Property Brothers just get all the shows don’t they?” another fan wrote. “Bargain Block and Married to Real Estate need to be renewed”

Several HGTV stars whose shows have remained intact have commented on social media about the recent slew of cancellations, but as of July 9, the Scotts had stayed quiet about the changes.

On June 24, “Rock the Block” star Ty Pennington wrote on Sherrod’s post about her show’s cancellation, “You know, in general I thought I had decent gauge about what TV executives wanted and the last few years have completely shattered that. Seriously shocked to hear this! Ya’ll are true professionals and I especially loved the designs from the last season 🙌 Keeping doing you 🙏🏼❤️ Onward and upward!”

“The Flip Off” stars Christina Haack and Heather Rae El Moussa also commented, with Christina writing, “You guys are amazing and will thrive at anything and everything you do!! ❤️” and Heather adding, “So sad to hear this! Love your show”

In 2022, the brothers signed a massive three-year contract with the network to continually develop and produce shows under their production company, per Variety, but the deal expires at the end of 2025.
