Nicole Curtis Recalls ‘Challenging Journey’ of Her ‘Rehab Addict’ Return

Nicole Curtis Shares Her Journey to a ‘Rehab Addict’ Comeback

On June 20, Curtis took to Instagram to give a peek at what she’s been working on for the past few years.

“If you’re not in the industry, chances are you’ve not familiar with the process of selling a show. In 2022, I wrapped our last bit of ‘Rehab Addict’ and decided it was time,” she noted in the caption. “No more co-productions, no more fighting for the right for my brand to be what I wanted. I made a list of anyone that didn’t seem to get my vision and I cut ties.”

She continued, “Letting go of a pretty fabulous TV career at an age where 50 was closer than 30 is not for the weak. However, continuing on like I had wasn’t worth it.”

Curtis explained, “So, I did it. I formed my own production company. I put together a plan and most importantly, I jumped into the deep end of being a producer vs talent.”

Nicole Curtis Learned the Ropes to Become a Producer

The HGTV star recalled sitting in “every meeting of every network you could imagine, every workshop, every keynote speaker.” She explained, “I stayed low key and more than once had people ask, why are you here ? You’re talent❤️.”

Curtis noted, “In fact, I sat in the back of the room at more than a few HGTV pitch talks just incognito. You know, that was the best experience for me ever. Yes, I’d been in tv for over a decade, but I wanted to make sure I knew every single thing I could think of. Nothing worse for me being in a room where I haven’t done my homework.”

She called the extra effort “the best thing I could’ve done.”

“This has been a challenging journey and If my new show doesn’t rate, I’ll bow out knowing I did what I set out to do. (And that for me is the best accomplishment I could ask for, anything else is gravy),” Curtis explained.

She added, “ARE YOU JOINING US ON TUESDAY? HGTV 9/8c for the first time ever ‘Rehab Addict’ solely produced by yours truly. 3 years in the making.”
