Atlanta-based Mike Jackson, star of HGTV’s hit show “Married to Real Estate” with wife Egypt Sherrod, has a Christmas surprise planned for two lucky single parents.
On Christmas Day 2024, he announced via Instagram, Jackson and his business partner, Mark Draper, will announce the winners of a generous giveaway they’re holding for single parents or grandparents living in Georgia. Two winners will each receive a free makeover for their child’s bedroom from Jackson Draper Construction, House Proud and Tool Bank of Atlanta.
“It’s a blessing to be a blessing,” Jackson wrote in a separate Instagram post, adding that nominations are due by December 12. “I’m looking forward to bringing joy to some deserving families lives.”
How to Nominate Single Parent or Grandparent for Mike Jackson’s Room Makeover
In a post on December 4, Jackson said that nominations for the room makeover giveaway can be emailed to Jacksondraperrenovations@gmail.com.
There are no specific requirements for the submissions, but he said people can send in photos and stories about a local single parent — or a grandparent raising his or her grandchildren — with “reasoning” for why they’re so deserving of the room makeover.
Fans and friends heaped praise on Jackson and Draper, known to many as “Uncle Mark,” for the generous offering, including fellow HGTV dad Dave Marrs, who called it “pretty amazing.”
Someone else commented, “You and Egypt and Uncle Mark and the rest of your tribe make my heart happy! Building community thru love!!! So needed in the times we are in!”

Giving back is important to Jackson and Sherrod, who both have thriving businesses in addition to their hit show.
“Everyday we live in gratitude and humility knowing that we’ve been blessed to be blessings to others,” Jackson told Authority Magazine in 2022. “Philanthropy is something my wife and I do without asking for anything in return. It’s one of the many reasons I love her so much. We’ve given back to charities, schools, foundations and more through our talents and skills, and even financially.”
Jackson also told the outlet, “One of my favorite quotes is by Albert Einstein, which reads: ‘Do not try to become a person of success but try to become a person of value.’ As simple as that statement is, it’s powerful! I’m big on going into things with a giving mentality. A ‘what can I add to this life’ way of thinking. Adding value to things will lead you to success by default.”
In addition to helping people in need, Jackson loves to encourage his followers to believe in the possibility of rising above their circumstances. In an October post, he shared the many ways he made ends meet when he was younger, from getting his bartenders’ license to cutting people’s hair.
“Don’t limit yourself because your family members never made it out of the hood, and they can’t see beyond the city limits,” he wrote. “You have to be your biggest believer. Do what works best for you and yours. I don’t have to know you to want you to win. I pray whoever is reading this takes the initiative to pour back into themselves.”
