‘Married to Real Estate’ Canceled: HGTV Fans Stunned as Egypt Sherrod & Mike Jackson Reveal Show’s End

One month after the season four finale of “Married to Real Estate” aired on HGTV, its much-beloved stars — Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson — say they’ve been informed by the network that the episode was, in fact, the series finale.

In a statement Sherrod issued via social media late on June 24, 2025, she posted in black text on a white background, “Mike and I just landed back in the States after an unforgettable family trip through the Mediterranean, and we’re met with unexpected news: HGTV has decided not to move forward with Married to Real Estate.”

“While the chain of events leading up to this is disheartening,” she continued, “we are deeply grateful. Grateful for four incredible seasons. Grateful for our amazing crew and supportive fans. Grateful that our businesses continue to thrive. And most of all — grateful that we are still very much married to real estate (and to each other). ❤️”

Fans flooded the comment section in shock, and some of the Atlanta couple’s HGTV colleagues followed suit, including longtime network star Ty Pennington. Many were still reeling from the news that HGTV has also chosen not to renew Detroit couple Evan Thomas and Keith Bynum’s “Bargain Block,” also after four seasons.

Egypt Sherrod & Mike Jackson Are Choosing to Find the Good in Hard Situation

In the last paragraph of Sherrod’s post, she wrote, “There’s more to say, and we’ll share soon. But for now, know this: not all setbacks are what they seem. Some blessings show up in disguise. We’ve been here before. We’ll keep counting those blessings — and keep it moving. Stay tuned.”

Captioning the post, the real estate maven also wrote, “🐦‍🔥🐦‍🔥🐦‍🔥 Sometimes GOD will rip you out of a situation to set you up for your next!”

Jackson, Sherrod’s co-star and husband of nearly 15 years, wrote in the comments, “God makes no mistakes. However, people and opinions do. We’ll discuss that on a later date though. We thank all the FAMS for rocking with us through it all. We appreciate the love and support. We’re not done … We got us.”

He also shared his own post late on June 24 to thank all the supporters of their series, which combined sweet and funny moments with their three daughters at home while they worked in each episode with clients to find and renovate homes in the Atlanta area.

“By no means does the cancellation of our show, mean a cancellation of us,” Jackson wrote. “Our God is bigger than any man’s choice.”

In his Instagram Stories, he admitted, “I can’t front, I’m a bit tight and disappointed. If y’all only knew what we have to put up with and endure. 😑”

Sherrod, a former large market radio host, starred for years on HGTV shows including “Property Virgins,” but “Married to Real Estate” premiered in 2022 she and Jackson started filming popular segments at home with their family during COVID. She owns a successful real estate business and design firm, while he owns a renovation company in Atlanta.

Ty Pennington Says Recent Programming Decisions Have ‘Shattered’ What He Though TV Execs Wanted

HGTV stars and fans flooded the couple’s posts to let them know how shocked and upset they were by the news of their show’s cancellation. “Rock the Block” host Pennington, who has starred on home improvement shows on ABC, TLC and HGTV since the 90s expressed his bewilderment on Sherrod’s post.

He wrote, “You know, in general I thought I had decent gauge about what TV executives wanted and the last few years have completely shattered that. Seriously shocked to hear this! Ya’ll are true professionals and I especially loved the designs from the last season 🙌 Keeping doing you 🙏🏼❤️ Onward and upward!”

Brian Kleinschmidt of “100 Day Dream Home” commented, “Every setback is a setup for a comeback! Can’t wait to see what’s next….watch out world. 👊”

Sarah Baeumler, who appears on HGTV shows in Canada but has been noticeably absent from the network in the U.S. for over a year, commented, “Excited to see this next chapter for you both – we know it will surpass your last and be incredibly rewarding for you ❤️ Keep on shining bright xx”

Fans also flooded the couple’s posts in shock, with one calling the cancellation an “insane decision,” and countless viewers noting how “disappointed” they were.

One person wrote, “WHHHAATTTTTTTT?!!! My mouth dropped open from pure shock. It definitely couldn’t been from numbers because you guys are SO well loved by everyone. Your design and craftsmanship is unlike anything else on that network. This is pure insanity.”

At the time of publication, HGTV had not confirmed the cancellation. A five-episode “Married to Real Estate” marathon is scheduled to air on the network on June 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern time.
