Jonathan Scott Gives Update on Wedding Plans With Zooey Deschanel

HGTV star Jonathan Scott and fiancée Zooey Deschanel are enjoying a long engagement — two years and counting! Scott provided the latest wedding planning update, and while the couple is currently enjoying life, they do have some ideas in mind for their nuptials.

Jonathan Scott Reveals Latest Zooey Deschanel Wedding Plans

In an August 2025 interview with People, Scott shared the latest on their wedding plans. “We’ve just been having so much fun traveling with the kids and filming this show [‘Chasing the West’] and stuff,” he said.

Scott added, “So no, we have not actually made any plans yet, which, it’s been two years now since I proposed.”

Even though they don’t have a wedding date set, they do have one thing in mind. “Whatever we do, it has to be meaningful to us and we want to gather our friends and family and have a good time,” he shared. “We want to keep it very, very intimate.”

Scott was also asked about wedding plans during a July 11 appearance on “Today With Jenna & Friends.” The HGTV star admitted, “Yes, we are the worst [about planning].”

He pointed out that enjoying life and their kids is their top priority right now. “We’ve been having so much fun,” he said, noting their “adventuring with the kids.”

Scott confirmed, “We have not planned anything yet.”

He told host Jenna Bush Hager, “Let me just say, there is an idea, a plan in our minds, and you will be the first person [to know].”

Jonathan Scott & Zooey Deschanel Celebrate Special Anniversary

On August 4, Scott took to Instagram to celebrate his and Deschanel’s “meetiversary.”

“This is a special day for us! @zooeydeschanel you’re the best 🥰,” he wrote in the caption.

In the video, Scott shared, “It is the anniversary of when Zooey and I first met for the very first time. August 4, 2019. It was actually filming ‘Carpool Karaoke.'”

Deschanel, her sister Emily, Scott, and his brother Drew filmed the show together. “We had so much fun. Zooey and I hit it off right away and they actually had us come back a couple of years later and do a ‘Where Are They Now,’ just the two of us,” the HGTV star explained.

He continued, “But this is a day that I love to celebrate. It’s our meetiversary … we hit it off so fast and have had so much fun. And, even a couple of years ago — I’ve got to pick it up — we got engaged atop Edinburgh Castle.”

Scott added, “But being in this relationship, never in a million years would I have known this is where I would be. But life takes you on those paths. And being a bonus dad is my favorite thing in the world and it makes me so happy.”
