HGTV star Jonathan Scott and actress Zooey Deschanel just celebrated a special anniversary. They each took to Instagram to honor the day they got engaged — two years ago!

Jonathan Scott Admits He & Zooey Deschanel Need to ‘Figure Out’ Their Wedding

On August 13, both Scott and Deschanel shared that they’ve been engaged for two years.

“I love him. Like … a lot,” the actress wrote in the Instagram caption. “Happy Anniversary❤️.”

Scott responded, “Love you back … like a LOT 😍.”

The “Property Brothers” star also posted a special anniversary tribute, writing, “Oh how time flies when you’re in love. 🥰. Aug 13th, 2023 … I put a 💍 on that finger. Guess we should figure out this 👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻
❤️❤️❤️❤️ love you @zooeydeschanel.”

Scott planned an elaborate proposal for Deschanel back in 2023.

In an April 2024 interview with Page Six, he shared the romantic details of their engagement.

“We were in Edinburgh Castle, and we were the last people on the property. I had it set up so they said, ‘Oh, there’s a pipe band playing. You want to go listen?'” Scott recalled.

The HGTV star continued, “We went up to this beautiful bluff overlooking the city, and this pipe band is playing. And then all of a sudden, a guitar steps forward and started playing Neil Young, our song, ‘Harvest Moon.’ And she’s like, ‘Wait, what?’ And then the kids pulled up a banner that said, ‘Will you marry me?'”

“She cried and she said ‘yes.’ And I’m a blubbering mess,” Scott shared. “Like the wedding is going to be a disaster because I will not be able to get through.”

Jonathan Scott Gives Latest Wedding Update

The couple has clearly been enjoying their long engagement and Scott’s most recent update indicated that they’ve been too busy to plan a wedding.

In an August 2025 interview with People, Scott gave the latest update. “We’ve just been having so much fun traveling with the kids and filming this show [HGTV’s ‘Chasing the West’] and stuff,” he said.

The HGTV star added, “So no, we have not actually made any plans yet, which, it’s been two years now since I proposed.”

While there are no firm plans, according to Scott, they both have a general idea of what’s important to them. “Whatever we do, it has to be meaningful to us and we want to gather our friends and family and have a good time,” he said. “We want to keep it very, very intimate.”
