Joanna Gaines knows the value of having a messy kitchen when you’re baking or cooking. The former HGTV star shared why sticky counters and unwashed dishes are all part of the process and the “joy.”
Joanna Gaines Explains Why Food Is So Much More Than ‘Something We Make’
In an August 13, 2025, Magnolia Table Instagram post, fans got a glimpse at Gaines’ kitchen and cooking philosophy.
“Setting the table for every food story Magnolia has to tell. Join us at @MagnoliaTable,” the caption reads.
The video explains, “Food has a way of slowing everything down. Until we’re only the moment in front of us. A quiet rebellion against the rush of schedules and screens — that creates more space for what matters.”
The video transitions to a sink filled with dirty pie plates, utensils, bowls, and measuring cups, as well as a reminder. “It reminds us the little things aren’t so little. That joy lives in sticky countertops and second tries,” the text notes.
The video continues, “That sometimes the magic isn’t the perfect meal — but in the moments hiding in between. At Magnolia Table, we believe food isn’t just something we make. It’s something we remember. Something we share. Something that shapes us.”
It concludes, “The table is where life’s best moments unfold. Where you can pull up a chair, settle in, and be filled up in more ways than one.”
The Magnolia Table Instagram Account Will Feature Recipes
On August 12, a new Magnolia Table Instagram account launched, with the first post explaining: “What started as a few simple family recipes has grown into something much more — a place to slow down, to be curious, to make mistakes and have fun doing it, and to celebrate the everyday moments worth savoring. Follow along to see what we’ve got cooking on our new channel @MagnoliaTable!”
The account will feature recipes and cooking inspiration.
Gaines notes in the introductory video, “I really can’t think about home without thinking about food. And that’s why food has become such an important part of Magnolia.”
“I know for me in the kitchen, I feel like it’s such a creative outlet for me,” she continues. “It’s a place where I can not take myself so seriously, be a little playful, have some fun.”
The “Magnolia Table” star adds, “I feel like I have so much to share and learn and I really can’t wait to do that alongside you.”
