Joanna Gaines Embraces a Season of Change

It may be broiling hot outside, but Joanna Gaines has ushered in the arrival of Fall at the Magnolia Silos!

While the thermometer in Waco, Texas is projected to climb into the triple digits at least four days in the coming week or so, Joanna Gaines is undeterred.

In a video posted to her Instagram account, Joanna debuts the new autumn decor at the Silos. She writes, “I always love our seasonal installs at @magnolia! This weekend, we brought fall to Magnolia Market. Check out the product we designed and curated online at magnolia.com and in store at the Silos in Waco, TX.”

In the video, Joanna tells the camera that the season’s theme is “embracing what matters most,” saying “I’m embracing my kids before they go off to college.”

In fact, later in the video while standing in front of a display of honey, Joanna reveals, “I’m actually harvesting all of the honey at the farm this week with the kiddos. I cannot wait.”

Chip & Joanna Gaines Squeeze in Relaxing Family Getaway Before School Starts

While it may be autumn at the Silos, Chip and Joanna Gaines are trying to squeeze every last drop of summer out personally before their two oldest children fly the nest.

Joanna posted a series of pictures of a beautiful family beach vacation on her Instagram account. The location reads Sayulita, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. One post shows both of the couple’s daughters, 18-year-old Ella Rose and 15-year-old Emmie Kay in the pool staring out at the ocean.

Both Ella Rose and older brother Drake will soon leave for college.

Drake (20), will be in his third year at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas about an hour from the Gaines’ Waco farm.

But while the Gaines haven’t said where Ella plans to attend college, Joanna has made it clear that she doesn’t intend to stay nearby.

In an interview with People, Joanna Gaines says Ella is determined to carve her own path. “She’s excited about going somewhere and just being known for her,” Joanna reveals. “She’s like, ‘I don’t want anyone knowing that you’re…I just want to go and be myself.’”

Joanna admits that it will be hard to see her daughter leave, saying, “I kind of feel like I’m losing a friend in my everyday life.” But she also says, “I’m excited for her to learn. She’s about to see some stuff. She’s going to teach us stuff.”

Joanna Gaines is Focusing on Mental and Physical Strength

Joanna Gaines says she’s bracing for that big goodbye when two of her five children leave home for college soon.

“It feels like what’s coming this summer will be a tidal wave of emotions, and I am not going to brace; I’m going to stand there and take it with him,” Joanna told People, referring to husband Chip.

But she’s also working on getting stronger both mentally and physically to face all the changes coming her way.

In a new episode of the “Stronger Podcast” with the Gaines’ trainer Don Saladino, Joanna talks about how her physical workouts have led her to learning about mental strength as well. Joanna says Don has taught her how to train her brain as well as her body.

“I feel like now it’s starting to match up to where when I do leave, my mind feels strong, and I feel like ‘oh Jo, you ARE killing it’ and my body feels strong too, but it starts with that positive, just start saying all the things about yourself that you’re so proud of.”
