Jenny Marrs and her husband Dave have a sneaky way to bless the homes they renovate. The HGTV “Fixer to Fabulous” star gave fans a first-hand look at the heartfelt tradition that includes the whole family.
Jenny Marrs & Family Bless Homes With Secret Messages
On May 25, Marrs took to Instagram to share a video of her family writing on walls, doors, and stairs. One message read, “Jesus, keep this house safe.”
In the caption, she explained the special meaning behind their messages.
“Years ago, we started a tradition of praying over each room and writing scriptures on the walls of our new builds and renovations prior to paint day,” she explained. “It’s one of my favorite ways to bless a home.”
Marrs noted, “As we continue to work on one of the renovations for this season, our family took some time today to pray and record God’s word on the walls of this special place. This one is incredibly unique. We started this project for our very dear friend and his wife and have had to unexpectedly grieve the passing of that same friend here on earth in the midst of the remodel. We don’t understand the timing of this loss or why this project happened right now.”
The HGTV star continued, “Even still, one of my favorite verses is ‘And yet I still dare to Hope’ (Lamentations 3:21) and we are working on still daring to hope in this place. The plans have changed but they were never our plans to begin with. So, we pray. We pause. We remember.”
Marrs added, “God gave me the word ‘delight’ at the start of this year and, despite the murkiness in our understanding, we have to trust that, just like the wildflowers that sprung up outside after the spring rain, there are good seeds planted in this soil that will eventually surprise and delight us.”
Fans Love the Marrs’ Family Tradition
Marrs’ post received a flood of comments from fans who said they adored the idea, including, “What a beautiful tradition,” “I absolutely love this Jenny!!,” “This is so beautiful!,” and “What a beautiful gift!”
“Your family is incredibly kind! What a wonderful thing you do for others by blessing their home!” one fan noted.
Another person commented, “I love this! Such a great way to bless the homeowners and to help your children learn how to bless others as well.”
Others shared how they have also written prayers and notes in their homes before painting or laying flooring. One fan noted, “Our builder had us do this when we built a year ago. I drew our family tree.”
