Facing your fears is never an easy or comfortable thing. HGTV star Jenny Marrs looked to a friend’s prayer to help with her biggest fear — flying. Marrs shared how whispering the words on her February flight gave her peace and a new perspective.
Jenny Marrs Asked for a ‘Glimpse of the Joy’ on Her Flight — And Got It!
On February 10, Marrs took to Instagram to share how she handled her most recent flight with her husband. She included a video of her view out the plane window, a sight she might never have seen if it wasn’t for a friend’s prayer.
“Yesterday, Dave and I were flying home from a speaking event, and as we took off, I whispered a prayer asking for a glimpse of the joy that a dear friend describes when she flies,” Marrs explained in the caption. “I love that she always says, ‘the top side of the clouds is my happy place’ (mostly because it’s truly incomprehensible to me).”
She continued, “As we ascended, I opened my window (I usually keep it closed because I once saw the engine catch fire in mid-air, and I’ve never liked looking out since) and I saw THIS.”
The view above the clouds was absolutely stunning and peaceful.
The HGTV star shared, “When we landed, I texted that friend: I’m thankful I opened the window. I still struggle with fear and am not a fan of being high up in the air in a metal tube, but I’m grateful for this unique vantage point to see the beauty God created.”
Marrs shared her hope that her post could help someone who needed it.
“Friends, if you’re facing something that makes your heart race and your palms sweaty today, I hope this video of the top side of the clouds can remind you that He will meet you right where you are most afraid,” she wrote. “And, right there in that incomprehensible place, may He give you a glimpse of joy. As His kids, we can rest assured that we’ve been promised peace — a peace that covers our minds and hearts and is infinitely more powerful than any fear (John 14:27). 🤍”
Her fans loved the reminder, leaving comments that included, “This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing” and “Breathtaking … and such a good reminder that he is always present for us.”
Others shared how relatable Marrs’ fear is to them. “I actually had tears in my eyes as I read your post. Your words always come just at the right moment,” one fan wrote. “Thank you from every inch of my heart ♥️. I too have a phobia of flying when I think of being up so high … Next time I fly, I will lift the shade. This is so beautiful. It’s certainly something we never see on a daily basis. We take so much for granted.”
Another fan noted, “I remember realizing on a flight, no matter how bad the weather is, it’s always sunshine above the clouds!!! ❤️”
Jenny Marrs Shared Another Hack for Flying
In a January 25 Instagram post, Marrs shared an easy tip that helps ease her fear of flying.
“These simple note cards were gifted to me on my birthday last year from dear friends,” she explained in the caption. “Y’all know I am not a fan of flying and I keep these in my travel bag so that when my breathing is shallow and fear threatens to overwhelm, these words of Truth usher in peace.”
The “Fixer to Fabulous” star reminded her followers to “surround yourself with friends who will pray for you and hold you up when you’re unsteady.”
She also pointed out that a meaningful gift is more important than spending a lot of money. “The most special gifts are inexpensive and given with intention and thoughtfulness,” Marrs explained.
