Fans of “Help! I Wrecked My House” already knew Jasmine Roth was brave, taking on homeowners’ challenges and even moving her family and her HGTV show from California to Utah.
But now any parent of young children will tell you she’s taking that bravery to the next level.
In a post on her Instagram account, Jasmine Roth revealed that she and husband Brett are taking her 5-year-old daughter Hazel and 11-month old daughter Darla on a nine-hour flight from Salt Lake City, Utah to Paris.
The post features a series of pictures and videos of Jasmine navigating the airport with her daughters while Brett parks the car.
Both Hazel and Darla are dressed in adorable pink and white pajamas to be comfortable on the journey. In one video, Jasmine asks Hazel, “Are you going to be good?” Hazel rolls her eyes and says, “Of course I’m going to be good.”
Jasmine Roth Chronicles Epic European Family Vacation
Jasmine’s Instagram post also shows the family on the plane, revealing they sprung for three first-class seats to give the kids plenty of room to spread out.
In the post, she writes, “Here we go! ✈️
I’m a believer that the journey is just as important (maybe more important!?) than the destination. In my mind, vacation begins the minute you start packing.
And don’t worry, I already explained to Hazel that she gets to sit in the “fancy seats” on the plane as long as she travels with mom and dad. Just a small preemptive bribe for when she thinks she’s too cool to hang out with us when she’s older. 🥲
9 hour flight with a 5 year old and a teething 11 month old. Who else would sign up for this?!”
Jasmine Roth Gets Support From Another HGTV Mom
While Jasmine Roth may be making fun of herself for taking on a flight with such young children, she’s getting full support from another famous HGTV mom.
“Fixer to Fabulous” designer and mom of five Jenny Marrs commented on the post, writing, “Have so much fun! This was actually my favorite traveling ages! You don’t have to worry about school and sports schedules so you can go when all the other tourists are back home! 🤪🙌”
Other moms who follow Jasmine also offered encouragement, writing, “You guys are BRAVE!! Have an awesome trip!” and “Good idea to go on vacation when the rest of us are starting school! Enjoy😊”
Another commented, “I met the kindest strangers on transatlantic flights when my kids were little. I was saved more than once by a lovely stranger willing to chat to a 5 year old asking endless questions while I dealt with a baby.”
Jasmine Roth Is Offering Fans a Transparent View of Real Life
In another Instagram post Jasmine put up just before the family left on their European vacation, the designer took followers on a tour of her messy house just after she returned from a work trip.
Jasmine pointed out boxes and clutter, the remnants of snacks and even a plant in the sink, all to show fans that it’s ok if your house doesn’t look perfect.
In the post she wrote, “The house tour we all need to see…probably every single day. A good reminder that social media is a highlight reel! 😘”
Jasmine Roth Says She’s Struggling With Work-Life Balance
Jasmine is also upfront with fans about her efforts to find a good work-life balance. In a post just before the messy house tour, Jasmine admits she’s struggling. She writes, “There must be a better way… but there isn’t. “
Jasmine goes on, “As a working parent I’m constantly struggling – trying to figure out if what I’m doing is the right thing. How I should be spending my time vs how I’m actually spending my time. This conundrum takes up an exorbitant amount of my mental space. And after 5 years I’ve come to the conclusion that there isn’t a good answer.”
With her trademark honesty, Jasmine admits in the post, “I love love love my kids. They’re my world. Every moment with them I’m pinching myself – incredulous how I got so lucky. But there’s always that nagging feeling of what I’m missing. I’m lucky (so lucky!) to have a job that I love with @hgtv and @builtcustomhomes. I’m passionate about helping people. I love to contribute and share. I value productivity and say yes to big projects. But the complexity of my job requires a lot of mental space and owning a business means I never get to leave my work at the office. And when I’m working and away from my kids – it feels like a piece of my heart is missing and the guilt can be overwhelming. So there’s that.”
Jasmine Roth says she shares these struggles to help other moms going through the same thing, writing, “Occasionally I’ll get a minute where I feel like maybe the ‘balance’ is working. Like I sorta have it figured out and maybe it’s not as hard as I think. Then like clockwork, something happens to slam be right back down to earth. Something at work goes wrong, I miss out on a big project, I was overlooked for an opportunity. Or one of the kids gets sick. The baby hits a milestone and I miss it. The list goes on and on…
So really I’ve come to live with this constant feeling of inadequacy and try (usually unsuccessfully) to reason through the guilt. I’m not saying it’s working, but I think it’s my best option. 🥹
Tag a parent who is going through this right now. I think knowing that we aren’t alone is so important and remembering that we’re all just doing our best. We’ve got this!”
