HGTV’s Jasmine Roth Shares Hectic Return to Show After 18 Months: ‘A Lot of Emotions’

Returning to work after maternity leave isn’t easy for any new mom, but it was especially hectic for HGTV star Jasmine Roth. On March 19, 2025 — six months after welcoming her second daughter, Darla Rose, born two months premature in a dramatic delivery — Roth resumed filming her series, “Help! I Wrecked My House.”

In a social media video documenting the chaotic day, Roth revealed that it was her first time filming her series in a year and a half. The show went on hiatus as Roth juggled lots of family changes, including a move from California to Utah. Despite the location change, HGTV renewed the show for a fifth season in July.

On her first day back, Roth wrote that “while I definitely had a lot of emotions yesterday, it felt really good to be back at work.”

Jasmine Roth Provided Detailed Look at Her Day, From Morning Routine to Late Night Breastfeeding

Roth’s back-to-work video, posted on March 20, showed her getting ready for the day at her Park City home. In her caption, she wrote, “I’m backkk! 🤎🤎 If there was ever a day I wanted to share with all of you, it was yesterday as I went back to work after maternity leave.”

The day began with a “5:50am Wake up,” she wrote over footage of her putting on her makeup. She added in text over the video, “Not shown are the nursing sessions at 12:30am and 4am.”

Knowing that snow was in the forecast, she then showed footage of her husband, Brett, checking the forecast on his phone, followed by her greeting their four-year-old daughter Hazel at 7 a.m., and Darla waking up in her bassinet. By 7:10 a.m., Roth shared that lunches were packed, and included video of her “first pump of the day” as she pumped breastmilk for the baby.

After a failed attempt at brushing Hazel’s hair and goodbye kisses for Darla, Roth was out the door at 7:25 a.m., breakfast burrito in hand as she drove 45 minutes in the snow to Salt Lake City. Once she reached her destination, there was video of her hugging crew members.

She wrote, “It was so fun to see my crew!! It’s been 1.5 years since we wrapped our last season.”

At 1:30 p.m., Roth posted her “lunch and pump,” with footage of herself in her car with a container of spaghetti and meatballs, and then pumping again. After more filming, she showed that she was heading home at 5 p.m. But her hectic day was far from over.

In her kitchen at 7 p.m., she shared video from her kitchen with a spread of grilled fish and salad, plus homemade cookies, writing, “Made a quick dinner for the executives on my show.” An hour later, she was holding both of her daughters and then seen breastfeeding Darla, followed by a bath for Hazel at 8:25 p.m.

After a “final pump” at 9 p.m. and a check of her emails, Roth prepped baby bottles for the next day and practically fell into bed at 10:15 p.m.

When someone asked in the comment section whether her husband was a stay-at-home dad, Roth replied, “fair question! No he works full time @rothstaffing and we have a full time nanny during the day. We also have lots of help from the grandparents. 🙂”

Jasmine Roth Acknowledges Return to Work is ‘Hard For Sure’ as Fans Cheer Her On

Though Roth’s first day was clearly exhausting, she assured her followers that she was happy to be back, writing in her caption, “My job is so much more than just a job to me. It’s my creative outlet, my future, and my opportunity to give back.”

“That said I had mixed emotions throughout the day,” she admitted, “and felt a deep sense of relief being back home snuggling my little ones when it was over…it’s hard for sure. But if there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that most things that are worthwhile are hard. We just give it our best, we power through it, and hopefully we’re happier for it.”

Many friends and fans commented words of encouragement and awe, including “100 Day Dream Home” star Mika Kleinschmidt, who wrote, “We mamas are true Superhereos🔥❤️ Welcome back!”

“Pioneer Woman” star Ree Drummond commented, “This was so wonderful, loved all the details. You are an amazing mom and pretty much rock at everything else, too. 😊❤️”

One comment from a fan that drew over 100 likes said, “Is it weird for a stranger on the internet to tell you how proud I am of you?! I’m secretly thrilled that you’re headed back to work because I’ve missed your show, but I’m also so grateful for all of the real feelings and emotions you’ve shared during your journey. Welcome back, Momma!”

Someone else chimed in, “🔥Oh, girl, you slayed the day!🔥 Getting up so early, getting everyone ready to go, that drive in the snow, filming, pumping in between it all, then making dinner and cookies, and getting everyone in bed… YOWZA – it made ME tired!😂 Jasmine you’re truly amazing🤩❤️🥰”
