HGTV star Heather Rae El Moussa is opening up about wanting to give her son, Tristan, 2, a younger sibling.
People magazine reported that Heather Rae El Moussa said her husband Tarek El Moussa disagrees with her about welcoming more children on the March 27 episode of “Scrubbing In with Becca Tilley & Tanya Rad” podcast. She said that it is “a sensitive topic for” her because she loves being a mother.
“[My son] is the light of my life. It makes me so happy. I’m like, ‘How could I not want more?’ But my husband is very much done. So we’re very different in what we want in our future. So that’s hard,” said Heather Rae El Moussa during the interview.
Heather Rae El Moussa explained that she would like to have another child as soon as possible.
“I’m 37. I’m turning 38 this year. So for me, it’s kind of like now or never in a way,” said Heather Rae El Moussa on the podcast episode. “Not because you can’t have babies older, but I don’t want to be 40 having babies still ’cause it’s a lot. It takes up a lot of your time, a lot of your life, and the kids are my priority over myself. So I want to do it, get my body back. And it took a long time. It’s hard.”
She then shared that she and her husband began going to therapy toward the end of 2024, which has helped them with their “communication” about the situation.

Tarek and Heather Rae El Moussa spoke about welcoming their son two months after he was born in a May 2024 interview on the “Jennifer Hudson Show.”
The couple noted that Heather Rae El Moussa’s pregnancy was a surprise. Tarek El Moussa explained that she underwent IVF (in vitro fertilization) because they “didn’t think Heather could get pregnant.” He then shared that “she got pregnant naturally.”
Heather Rae El Moussa also noted that they “still have embryos.”
“We might have another baby,” said Heather Rae El Moussa.
Her husband responded, “I don’t know about that.” He then clarified that he would do whatever his wife wanted when it comes to having more children.
Tarek El Moussa and his ex-wife, Christina Haack have two children, Brayden, 9, and Taylor, 14.
Heather Rae El Moussa Shared Her Thoughts About Motherhood Before Her Son’s 2nd Birthday
Heather Rae El Moussa shared her thoughts about motherhood in a February 2025 Instagram upload. In the caption, she noted that her son was about to turn 2. She shared that “watching him grow and learn brings [her] so much joy.”
“I love experiencing life through his innocent, beautiful spirit. But it’s also been very hard for me to see my baby grow up—I want to keep him my baby forever,” wrote Heather Rae El Moussa.
She then shared that she was never eager to have children. She said now, however, that “more than anything, [she] love[s] being a mom.”
“With all the stress and chaos in life, when I see him and hold him, I feel an instant calm in my whole body. He’s so pure, loving, and innocent. I watch videos of him as a baby and cry—mostly happy tears 🥹, but also because I wonder if I’ll ever have another baby. And when you love being a mom as much as I do, that thought is something I quietly mourn inside,” continued the “Flip Off” star.
She also shared she was thankful to be Taylor and Brayden’s stepmother.
“They have changed my life in the best ways and opened up such a beautiful, nurturing side of me. ♥️,” wrote Heather Rae El Moussa.
