Dave & Jenny Marrs Mourn Loss of Beloved Family Dog

HGTV stars Dave and Jenny Marrs shared the heartbreaking news about the passing of their family dog, Dolly. They each posted touching tributes to their beloved pet after the family spent the day with Dolly before saying goodbye.

Jenny Marrs Shares Sad News About Family Dog

On July 24, Jenny took to Instagram to share a touching goodbye to their dog Dolly and recalled how she first joined their family.

“I’ll never forget the phone call. Dave, on a hunting trip in Nebraska, relayed the details of one of the older bird dogs,” Jenny recalled in the caption. “She was clearly unwell and needed to get to a vet quickly. She lived in a kennel and only went outside for paid hunts. Dave wanted to make sure I would be okay with another pup if he could talk the owner into letting him bring her home to Arkansas.”

She continued, “I urged him not leave there without her. The man knew we had young kids and assumed Dolly was on her last days (he suspected cancer but didn’t want to spend the money on surgery) so he finally agreed to let her come live with us.”

Jenny shared, “Three surgeries and a few hernias removed later, she went on to live a very full, very free, never in a kennel again, life with us for the next decade. She was the best girl. She loved our kids and loved every animal we brought home to the farm. She accepted everyone and loved unconditionally. She napped hard and smiled big. Even as she aged and was in constant pain, she had a spunk and zest for life that was unmatched.”

The HGTV star struggled to find the words to express how much Dolly was loved. “The pain is too raw right now to properly convey how much Dolly has meant to our family. She was our family,” Jenny wrote. “She will never be forgotten. The tears we’ve shed are insignificant compared to the joy she gifted us with. We would say yes a thousand times over despite the inevitable heartbreak of goodbye. She was absolutely worth it.”

Jenny added, “We will love and miss you always, Dolly-Sue. Eighteen years earthside wasn’t enough. Until we meet again, my girl.”

Dave Marrs Shared a Touching Tribute to Dolly

Dave also took to Instagram with a sweet slideshow of images of Dolly. “Today we had to say goodbye to our sweet Dolly,” he noted in the caption. “She’s been my little sidekick since we rescued her 10 years ago.”

He continued, “She never missed a moment to lay in the shop when I was working; never missed a moment to snuggle up when we had a hard day; never missed one of the kids made up plays, or snow days; she just never missed anything. She was always there. She has graced us with so much joy over the last ten years.”

Dave added, “I’m going to miss her so so much. Love you Dolly girl.”

Fans flooded Dave and Jenny’s posts with kind words and condolences. “So sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family, she is watching over all of you, guiding you all,” one fan wrote. “You guys gave her a happy blessed life.”
