Clint Harp is hanging up his woodworking tools and stepping away from HGTV and Magnolia Network for a big career change.
The former “Fixer Upper” carpenter who then got his own show, “Restoration Road” on Magnolia Network has announced that he’s becoming a realtor, selling homes in Waco, Texas.
Clint Harp Explains Major Life Pivot
In an Instagram post, Harp explained his shocking decision to walk away from his television career. In the post, he writes, “New journey. New chapter. So excited to partner with my friend Jonathan to build the 254 Realty Group under the family of Camille Johnson Realtors. Camille is that same Realtor I met with Kelly over 13 years ago when we dreamed of flipping an old pink house we had no business buying (watch yesterdays post iydk!)…and yet she was still kind, helpful, and impactful. Now she’s my sponsoring broker as I take off on this new chapter with my real estate license in hand.
With the 254 Realty Group, we’re building an experience where every client, at every price point, will receive the highest level of care.
If you’re moving to, within, or out of Waco or the surrrounding areas, please reach out! I’d love to walk with you on the next part of your journey.”
In the post, he alludes to a story he addressed in his book, “Handcrafted: A Woodworker’s Story.”
In an Instagram post Harp put up the day before his big career change announcement, he teased the announcement by reading from that book. Harp read an excerpt from chapter one, where he mentions realtor Camille Johnson meeting with Clint and his wife about buying a house when they had no money, and no plan. Clint captioned the post, “The next chapter is???…here’s a hint from an old chapter. I’ll tell you the rest tomorrow! ✌️❤️”
Clint Harp’s Many Career Changes
“Fixer Upper” fans of course all came to know Clint Harp as a regular feature on Chip and Joanna Gaines’ HGTV hit show. The Gaines even renovated a home for the Harps on “Fixer Upper” that the couple later turned into an AirBnB after it got too much attention from fans.
Episodes regularly featured furniture built by Clint at his Harp Design Company. When Chip and Joanna ended “Fixer Upper” in 2018, Harp Design Company continued to enjoy success based on its fame from the television show.
But when the Gaines formed Magnolia Network, they offered Clint his own show, “Restoration Road.”
Magnolia Network described the show like this: “Carpenter Clint Harp hits the road in search of incredible historical structures across the country that are in need of restoration, while exploring their origins and dreaming of their futures.”
“Restoration Road” lasted for six seasons, during which Clint and his wife Kelly decided to close Harp Design Company. The woodworking shop shut its doors in January 2023.
“Restoration Road” aired its last new episode in December 2023.
