Woodworker and king of dad jokes Ben Napier already has his hands full as one of HGTV’s biggest stars, but says he’s ready for something more, so he’s turned to his fans for advice.
On January 27, 2025 — the same day HGTV announced Ben and his wife Erin Napier have signed a multi-year deal to keep starring on their hit show, “Home Town” — Ben told fans in an Instagram post that he was eager to be a guest on a variety of podcasts.
He wrote, “We will start filming again soon, but I am wanting to do something different! I am wanting to do some podcast interviews. Today is my brother Tom’s birthday and he told me that we should start being guests on podcasts since it’s all he listens to on the road. So, if you’ve got a podcast or know of one we should do, shoot me a DM.”
Ben Napier Has a List of Podcast Topics He’d Love to Discuss & Fans Know Exactly Who He Should Talk To
The dad of two daughters — Helen, 7, and Mae, 3 — included Erin in his post and listed some of the topics he’d love to chat about. Ben wrote that “topics we can discuss” would include “Cars, Art, Houses, Small towns, Gardening, Manufacturing, American Made, Florida, Mississippi, Food, Paint colors, Wood working, Cellular phones, Social media, Parenting, Christmas, Duke, Ole Miss.” Some of the items on the list, were added as people suggested other topics they’d love to hear him discuss.
The star was immediately inundated with ideas from hundreds of fans on where he should appear, and over 27,000 fans liked his post. When one fan suggested that he start his own podcast, Ben replied, “There are already so many, I don’t know that anyone would (listen)”
Fans had plenty of ideas for existing podcasts that would likely welcome him with open arms, including one who suggested Mike Rowe’s “The Way I Heard It,” which multiple fans echoed.
Ben replied, “hey @mikerowe, got time?”
Another fan wrote, “I would love to see you go on an adventure with @mikewolfeamericanpicker I think you guys would be great together.”
To that, Ben responded, “I like @mikewolfeamericanpicker pretty good. He and I picking would be trouble for my wallet”
Another fan suggested, “Ya’ll should fly to LAX and do Armchair Expert with Monica and Dax! It would be so fun!”
Ben “liked” that comment and chimed in, “there are a few LA based ones that we want to do”
Other podcast ideas from fans that Ben seemed particularly interested in pursuing included Kylie Kelce’s new “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, “Everything Happens” with Kate Bowler (whom Ben said he’s a “big fan” of), and “That Sounds Fun” with Annie Downs.
Ben Napier Also Just Asked Fans for Help Finding Vintage ‘Old Navy Truck’
Two days after Ben asked his fans for advice about which podcasts he should be a guest on, he reappeared on Instagram to ask for advice about a completely different topic: where to find the perfect vintage truck to fix up with his daughter Helen.
On January 29, Ben posted a video taken in a garage in the Napiers’ hometown of Laurel, Mississippi, where he pursues another passion — fixing up vintage vehicles.
“So, Helen has recently told me what she wants her first vehicle to be,” he told fans. “This came with no coaching. I was actually pushing for a mid-90s sedan, like a Lexus LS400. But she’s decided that she wants the Old Navy truck.”
“She doesn’t know that,” Ben then said. “She just said, ‘I want an old … like, 1950s blue Chevy truck’ or GMC. And she said she would like for it to have a little bit of rust on all the panels, but not, like, holes and things. So a light patina, which then made me think about the Old Navy trucks.”
Ben recalled seeing them in stores on t-shirts and diecast toys, and that the vehicles would have “Old Navy Supply Company” written on the sides.
“So now I’m looking for a lead on one,” he said, asking fans to send him tips on any they know are available.
In the caption of his post, Ben hilariously asked fans not to inform Erin that he was looking to buy yet another old vehicle. She, of course, saw the post anyway and in the comment section, simply wrote a one word response that drew hundreds of likes: “ben.”
