After a stunning two weeks of announcements from HGTV stars in June 2025, all informing fans that four popular shows had not been renewed by the cable network, another star — Alison Victoria — has now revealed one of her series has been cut, too.
On the July 1, 2025, edition of her “Pap Smear Podcast,” Victoria announced that HGTV opted not to renew “Battle on the Beach” for a fifth season, making it the fifth series cancellation HGTV fans have learned about since mid-June. HGTV has not replied to EntertainmentNow’s request for comment.
‘Battle on the Beach’ Was Alison Victoria’s ‘Adult Spring Break’
“Battle on the Beach,” which premiered in 2021, was a competition show that pitted three duos of amateur renovators against each other as they transformed a different seaside beach house in a matter of weeks, all competing for a $50,000 prize. Each pair was guided by an expert HGTV star — Victoria, Taniya Nayak, or Ty Pennington. Meanwhile, Bryan and Sarah Baeumler served as judges, determining the winners during all but the first season.
Victoria revealed the show’s demise on her podcast as she talked with her “Ugliest House in America” co-star Retta, who was her guest on the July 1 episode. They discussed how important it’s been to bring humor into the series, something that Victoria said she thought was missing from the last season of “Battle on the Beach.”
“I’ll just throw it out there: I did a show called ‘Battle on the Beach,'” she began. “I loved that show. It was so fun and funny, and then all of a sudden, I watched the episode (and) I’m like, ‘Well, where did all that go?'”
The “Windy City Rehab” star continued, “I get it, right? It’s a lot of content to try to put into 42 minutes, but where is it — like, where’s the great editing? … You’ll lose a show that way, I truly believe that. And ‘Battle on the Beach’ did not get picked back up, which is sad because it was like adult spring break.”
“I believe it was all editing,” Victoria stated, noting that she thinks funny moments should “always” be incorporated into unscripted lifestyle shows.
“You have it, use it,” she said. “Be funny, use the funny, go with us on that journey because it’s most likely going to resonate with the viewer.”
Victoria, who’s been filming her spinoff “Sin City Rehab” with her own newly-formed production company, said she’s relieved she can at least laugh with Retta on the sets of “Ugliest House in America” and “Scariest House in America” now that “Battle on the Beach” is over.
“‘Battle on the Beach’ was like my adult spring break and that got canceled,” she said, “and so now I’ve got my adult spring break with you, and summer — spring and summer! I’m, like, so happy it’s not even funny.”
‘Battle on the Beach’ Star Ty Pennington ‘Seriously Shocked’ by Recent HGTV Cancellations

Victoria’s announcement about “Bargain on the Beach” comes after a slew of surprising news about the demise of other well-loved HGTV shows, which has left fans shell-shocked.
On June 17, Keith Bynum shared in his Instagram Stories that his and partner Evan Thomas’ Detroit-based show “Bargain Block” had been discontinued after four seasons, noting that although HGTV had renewed it for a fifth season in December, executives changed their mind in February.
On June 23, longtime HGTV contractor Izzy Battres informed fans in the comment section of one of his posts that his new series, “Izzy Does It,” was not renewed for a second season. The next day, on June 24, married couple Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson announced that they’d returned from vacation to learn that their show, “Married to Real Estate,” had not been renewed for a fourth season.
Then, late on June 25, New Kids on the Block member Jonathan Knight disclosed via social media that the network also decided not to renew his show, “Farmhouse Fixer” for a fourth season.
Pennington, who also hosts HGTV megahit “Rock the Block,” has not commented on the cancellation of “Battle on the Beach,” but has expressed shock and disappointment over the network’s other recent cancellations.
When Sherrod shared the news about “Married to Real Estate” on her Instagram feed, he expressed his bewilderment on her post, writing, “You know, in general I thought I had decent gauge about what TV executives wanted and the last few years have completely shattered that. Seriously shocked to hear this! Ya’ll are true professionals and I especially loved the designs from the last season 🙌 Keeping doing you 🙏🏼❤️ Onward and upward!”
