Many HGTV fans were crushed when “Bargain Block” star Keith Bynum revealed in June 2025 that his renovation series with longtime partner Evan Thomas and realtor Shea Hicks Whitfield had been canceled after four seasons.
Some expressed confusion on August 6, 2025, as Whitfield promoted new episodes of the show on social media. So, is the “Bargain Block” really canceled? Bynum confirmed that after unaired shows from their final season premiere, the show will not be back on HGTV. He sounds okay with that, given what’s coming next.
Keith Bynum Says ‘No Thanks’ to Possible HGTV Return
“Bargain Block” did not get renewed for a fifth season. It is among at least seven shows HGTV has canceled in 2025 including Jonathan Knight’s “Farmhouse Fixer,” Christina Haack’s “Christina on the Coast,” and “Married to Real Estate” starring Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson.
But some fans got confused when Whitfield posted photos of her with Thomas and Bynum, writing, “We’re two weeks away from an ALL NEW #BargainBlockWednesday y’all! I can’t wait for you guys to see what we’ve been up to!”
One fan wrote, “Wait, what?? I thought it was canceled!!” while another commented, “So appreciative y’all have another season! Have missed you all! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”
Someone else excitedly wrote, “Seriously!!?? I’m so excited that they realized what a stupid decision that was!!”
But Bynum clarified in response, “lol they didn’t. We had already filmed these”
While “Bargain Block” won’t return for a new season, there are several new episodes from its fourth season that haven’t aired yet. According to HGTV’s schedule, the shows will premiere on HGTV beginning on August 20 at 8 p.m. Eastern for four Wednesday nights in a row.
Bynum also had a surprising response to someone who wrote, “Can’t wait to watch! Hopefully the viewing response will change HGTV’s minds and bring you back for good!!”
The interior designer and artist replied, “haha no thanks! Yall gonna really love the next chapter :)”
HGTV Originally Planned to Move Forward With a 5th Season of ‘Bargain Block’
On “Bargain Block,” Bynum and Thomas restore dilapidated homes in Detroit, and then sell them with the help of local real estate agent Whitfield. On June 17, while answering questions submitted by fans in a series of Instagram Stories, Bynum answered one who asked when a fifth season of “Bargain Block” would air.
“So, I get this question a lot, and we do have a few more episodes coming out in August, actually, starting on Evan’s birthday,” he said, which meant they’d begin airing on August 20. “But they are the remainder of season four because they did not renew the show for season five.”
Bynum continued, “So, it’s a long story, but they originally greenlit it and then — I guess that was back in December. Then they decided in February, after we got everything ready for season five, that they weren’t going to do it.”
“So, it threw us into a bit of a crazy financial tailspin,” Bynum admitted. “And the last three, four months, we’ve been trying to just figure it out. So we’re doing client work and got some other stuff going on, but it’s been — oh, man, it’s been wild.”
Several days after his announcement, Bynum shared an Instagram post confirming the news and thanking their “amazing base of followers.”
“Everyone always told us TV is a fickle world and they are very right,” Bynum continued. “Tv is full of a lot of great people but it’s also full of some of the worst people I’ve ever encountered. Evan and I have always tried hard to stick to what we know and what we’re good at which is being ourselves. We love you all and we’re very excited to announce what’s next soon!”
