With the final four episodes of HGTV’s recently canceled series “Bargain Block” slated to premiere on August 20, 2025, Keith Bynum penned an emotional farewell on behalf of his co-stars — partner Evan Thomas and Detroit real estate maven Shea Hicks Whitfield.
Many HGTV fans were shocked throughout the summer of 2025, as multiple stars revealed the network had not renewed their shows. Bynum was the first, announcing in June that “Bargain Block” would not return, except for four episodes from the show’s fourth season that had not yet aired.
“Tomorrow marks the beginning of the end of Bargain Block,” he captioned a series of photos of himself, Thomas, and Hicks Whitfield in a lengthy August 19 post. “It’s amazing to be part of something so wonderful and it’s hard to say goodbye but I’m beyond grateful for the last five years.”
Keith Bynum Says Fans’ Anger Over ‘Bargain Block’ Cancellation Brought Him & His Co-Stars ‘Comfort’
In his post, Bynum shared how grateful they’ve been for “Bargain Block” fans since the show debuted in 2021.
“Our amazing fans have welcomed us into their homes like we were their best friends and we felt that,” he wrote. “The amount of people that come up to us and ask for a hug or a physical connection of some kind is beautiful to me. And while Evan still squirms we all can’t deny how special we have felt.”
“Getting to work with my two best friends has been a dream too,” Bynum continued. “The connection and love we have for each other is real and I’m very grateful that came thru.”
Bynum also noted that seeing so many fans upset about the cancellation of “Bargain Block” had brought them “comfort.”
“I’m also grateful for leaving HGTV at a high point,” he wrote. “While the decision to leave was not ours, it’s clear we have fans that will support us no matter what network we land on and that is a comfort. I’ll admit, the anger we experienced in the last few months was tough to handle, but seeing how many of you were also angry helped us see a path forward. Out of the bad always comes some good. I love you all. I hope you love the last four episodes. It was a joyride for the most part!”
‘Bargain Block’ Stars & Fans Hopeful About Trio’s Future
Despite being sad about “Bargain Block” going away, its trio of stars and their fans seem hopeful about the future.
Hicks Whitfield replied to Bynum’s post by writing, “It has been thee most amazing experience! Through the blood, sweat, tears, and ENDLESS Laughter we all became family… The future is bright! Love y’all 💛💛💛”
Among the hundreds of fans commenting on Bynum’s post, one wrote, “Hgtv has made some horrible moves. Don’t understand their thinking. Love you guys. Something better is around the corner!”
Another commented, “Hands down my favorite show in a long time! I loved the concept, helping rebuild Detroit, the history, the architecture, the designs, creativity, but most of all the love and friendship! Can’t wait for the remaining episodes and whenever you land next I’ll be watching!”
On August 11, Bynum shared a hopeful update on Instagram, telling fans, “I haven’t been as excited about the future as I have the last few weeks. Life has an amazing way of guiding you exactly where you need to go. The more you fight it, the harder things get.”
The first of four final episodes of the “Bargain Block” will premiere on August 20 at 8 p.m. Eastern time, and air at that time for four Wednesdays in a row, according to HGTV’s schedule.
