Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas have experienced the extreme highs and lows of TV stardom in a few short years, but the HGTV stars are still “excited” for whatever’s coming next. Days after revealing that their Detroit-based renovation series “Bargain Block” will not return for a fifth season, Bynum shared an honest social media update on June 22, 2025, about the “fickle world” of TV.
“Our entire business and lives have been put through the ringer at the hands of a giant corporation, yet we persist lol,” Bynum wrote. “Though you may not be seeing us for much longer on HGTV, we’re excited that we’ve built such an amazing base of followers and we’re very excited about the future.”
While fans have been upset about HGTV backing away from “Bargain Block,” most of their colleagues have kept a low profile on the matter. But longtime HGTV star Ty Pennington, who’s worked with Bynum and Thomas on shows like “Rock the Block” and “Barbie’s Dream House Challenge,” weighed in with his support, empathizing with the duo over what a tough business TV can be.
Keith Bynum Says He’s Met ‘Great’ People in TV & ‘Some of the Worst People’
On “Bargain Block,” Bynum and Thomas, who are not only co-stars but have been life partners for the last 12 years, restore dilapidated homes in Detroit. They then sell them with the help of local real estate agent Shea Hicks-Whitfield.
In his Instagram Stories on June 17, Bynum revealed that although HGTV renewed the show for a fifth season in December, the network reversed its decision in February after he and Thomas had put all of their plans in motion for the next season. Scrambling to make up for the financial loss, they’ve been taking on private clients and figuring out their next steps.
Bynum called the first six months of 2025 a “pretty wild journey” in his June 22 post, and wrote, “Everyone always told us TV is a fickle world and they are very right. Tv is full of a lot of great people but it’s also full of some of the worst people I’ve ever encountered. Evan and I have always tried hard to stick to what we know and what we’re good at which is being ourselves. We love you all and we’re very excited to announce what’s next soon! Enjoy this beautiful Sunday!”
In the comments, Thomas chimed in, “Regardless of TV, we have a lot of beautiful projects in the making, so stayed tuned 😍!”
Over 1,400 fans liked Pennington’s comment to Bynum, which said, “Feel you on this! It’s not fun constantly worrying and wondering if it’s all gonna be over, if this is the year they don’t renew your show. Been in this rat race for 25 years and it doesn’t get easier! One thing I know for sure is you guys are damn talented and I can’t wait to see what you do next 🙌🔥”
Jenny Marrs replied to Pennington, “so well said, as always! 👏”
Fans Are Hoping ‘Bargain Block’ Stars Will ‘Spill the Tea’ One Day

“Bargain Block” fans will get a final influx of episodes beginning on August 20, according to Bynum and Thomas, who’ve said that’s when HGTV plans to premiere the last four episodes of their fourth season.
Once the dust settles, fans are hoping Bynum and Thomas will spill the tea on what they think happened that caused HGTV to change its mind on a season renewal, and who qualifies among the “worst” people they’ve had to work with.
Hundreds liked one comment on Bynum’s post that said, “I know they probably made y’all sign an NDA contract, but I would love more tea! Call them out!” Many more “liked” his response, “I will one day.”
