HGTV star Alison Victoria isn’t going to let online bullies win. While she admits it’s a bit crushing to read negative comments about herself, she stays positive and doesn’t let the haters get her down.
Alison Victoria Has Had Her Share of Online Haters
In a May 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Victoria shared how she deals with reading hateful comments about herself. She navigates the negativity with class and a perspective that reframes the situation.
“I think that with anyone — whether you’re in the public eye or not — when something hurts, you can either be crippled by it, or you can be empowered by it,” she noted. “Stuff stings and it makes you second guess yourself.”
Victoria shared that, while traveling to Las Vegas recently to film “Sin City Rehab,” she saw an article titled, “Why Some HGTV Fans Seriously Can’t Stand Alison Victoria.”
The HGTV star admitted that while the title and article content was “hurtful,” she won’t let it get to her.
“I told myself years ago that I wasn’t going to let anyone dim my light, and unfortunately, an article like that will, and it sucks,” Victoria shared.
She added, “My flame won’t go out but it’s awful to read.”
According to Victoria, she keeps it very real on “Windy City Rehab” and her “soon to be show ‘Sin City Rehab.'” She explained, “That’s as real as reality gets. But that’s who I am to my core. People are seeing me for me.”
She also shared her viewpoint on dealing with critical and hurtful comments. “Understand that the person on the other side is going through some sort of pain because it takes someone in pain to want to inflict pain on others,” the HGTV star shared.
Victoria continued, “‘If I hurt, then I’m going to hurt someone else.’ And that’s a very vindictive way to live. If you stop and you put yourself in that person’s shoes and you look at it from the outside, you can kind of feel their hurt, and you almost feel bad for them.”
She added, “When you feel bad for somebody, you have empathy.”
Alison Victoria Says ‘No One’s Ever Going to Turn the Lights Out’
While she admits that those kinds of articles and comments sting, she is focused on all of the great things going on in her life.
“I love life. I wake up smiling. I can’t wait to see what the day is going to bring,” Victoria said.
She continued, “I worked really hard to get here, and it feels surreal that I’m finally in a place of true happiness, loving where I live and having the most amazing job in the world.”
While she admitted that the article’s angle was hurtful, Victoria won’t let it sit with her for long.
“That [writer] did dim my light, and those comments hurt my feelings,” the HGTV star said. “But no one’s ever going to turn the lights out.”
