Jonathan Scott is having to calm fans down after an Instagram post had them convinced he and Zooey Deschanel were expecting a little girl.
The HGTV star had to edit an Instagram post depicting him covered in paint and glitter, holding a sledgehammer, with the words “Life of a Girl Dad” written over his head. The caption originally read, “Album out October 3rd 😉”
After he posted the photo, fans started going crazy, commenting, “Yay!!!💕omg I’m so happy for you 2! Congratulations!” and “Omg! Jonathan! This is such great news! Congratulations to y’all! 💕” and “😍 Congrats to you and Zoey! 🌸👧🏻”
In the now-edited caption, Jonathan set his followers straight, adding, “Settle down…just a @taylorswift tribute 😂”
Property Brothers Were Just Paying Tribute to Taylor Swift’s New Album
Twin brother Drew Scott also had a Taylor Swift-themed post that did not cause as much confusion.
In his post, Drew is hilariously dressed as a Las Vegas showgirl in homage to Taylor Swift’s announcement that her new album is called “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Drew is flanked by two actual Vegas showgirls standing under the iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign.
In the second picture in the carousel of photos, Drew offers a high kick beside Jonathan, who is dressed in his signature plaid and denim. The third photo even gets big brother J.D. involved, with Drew showing off another high kick (and high heels!) while the other brothers cringe.
But there was no cringing from fans. For Drew, followers were in on the joke, commenting, “Work it 😂” and “OMG, Your legs are better than mine. 😅They’re beautiful 😍 🤩”
Jonathan Scott Is Already a Girl Dad
Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott may not be expecting, but the Property Brother is already a girl dad, or at least a bonus girl dad.
Jonathan recently posted a video on his Instagram account that shows him wheeling his two future step-children through an airport as they rode on their luggage.
Jonathan is step-dad to fiancée Zooey Deschanel’s two kids: Elsie Otter (10) and Charlie Wolf (8).
In the caption, Jonathan wrote, “Anybody else love taking care of ALL the baggage 🥰”
Fans were just as eager to celebrate his stepdad duties as they were when they misunderstood his Taylor Swift post.
One commented, “you’re the best bonus dad Jonathan!! You got your dream of becoming a dad😍”
Jonathan has embraced his role as “bonus dad,” but admits it was an adjustment.
He told People, “One thing that was a struggle early on was that the kids didn’t necessarily run up and jump in my arms and give me a big hug. I also remember several times where they’d be out with other kids and someone would say, ‘Oh your daddy’s so funny,’ and they’d be like, ‘That’s not my daddy, he’s my Jonathan.’ So that would hurt a little bit.”
But Jonathan was patient, knowing the kids weren’t being cruel. “In their mind, it’s not a mean thing to say — it’s how they know me.”
While Jonathan and Zooey may not have baby news, there might be wedding news on the horizon.
In an Instagram post on August 13 celebrating the two-year anniversary of their engagement, Jonathan wrote, “Oh how time flies when you’re in love. 🥰.
Aug 13th, 2023…I put a 💍 on that finger. Guess we should figure out this 👰🏻♀️🤵🏻
❤️❤️❤️❤️ love you @zooeydeschanel”
