More than a decade after “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” hit theaters, HBO is officially returning to the wizarding world with a complete reboot of the beloved franchise.
Initially announced in 2023, the upcoming series will re-adapt J.K. Rowling’s books, starting once again with “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.” While a release date has yet to be confirmed, the show is expected to premiere in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max.
First Look: Meet the New Harry Potter
As part of the production kickoff announced on July 14, Warner Bros. revealed the first look at Dominic McLaughlin in the lead role of Harry Potter.
Fans quickly took notice of the young actor’s striking resemblance to Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed the boy wizard in the original films. Coincidentally, McLaughlin is the same age as Radcliffe was when he first stepped into the role in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
Directed by “Succession’s” Mark Mylod

The reboot will be helmed by Mark Mylod, known for his work on HBO’s “Succession.” The series promises a more in-depth retelling of the original books, giving fans a chance to revisit Hogwarts from a fresh perspective, with a new generation of actors bringing the story to life.
