Leaked Video from ‘Harry Potter’ Series Set Give First Look at Major Character

HBO confirmed that filming had officially commenced on its highly-anticipated “Harry Potter” television series earlier this month. Since then, the cast have been spotted filming throughout London, namely in London Zoo

Amongst the cast members already confirmed to be filming scenes for the upcoming series is Dominic McLaughlin, who will be taking over the title mantle from Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed “The Boy Who Lived” in the wildly-successful eight-film franchise of the same name.

On July 21, McLaughlin was spotted once again by eagle-eyed Londoners as the young star donned his Harry Potter costume – complete with his trademark round glasses and lightning-bolt scar – at the Victoria Embankment.

Fans Capture Sneak-Peek of Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid on ‘Harry Potter’ Set

The 15-second video, showing McLaughlin’s Harry descending a set of stairs leading to the London Underground alongside “How to Train Your Dragon” star Nick Frost, who will be taking over the role of Rubeus Hagrid, formerly portrayed by the late Robbie Coltraine, for the upcoming HBO series.

In full Hagrid garb, including a bushy false beard and heightened shoes to raise the 5 feet 5 inches actor to the character’s book-accurate height of 8 feet 6 inches. Frost can be seen in the video as crew members, wielding black umbrellas, aid the actor as he descends the stairs to the Underground.

The recent set leak followed just days after HBO released the first promotional snaps of Frost as the Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

While some fans were concerned that the “Shaun of the Dead” actor wouldn’t be a good fit for the role, described in J.K Rowling’s best-selling books as a half-giant with shaggy hair and a “wild, tangled beard, the HBO images have changed their minds, showing Frost in what some have speculated to be a full head prosthesis to help him play the part.

Who Else Will Star in HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Reboot Series?

Hagrid was just one of the iconic “Harry Potter” characters highlight in the recent HBO promotional drop, which similarly featured images of Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madame Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.

McLaughlin, joined by Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout, who will portray Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley respectively in the forthcoming project, was similarly featured in previously released promotional images of the cast, though McLaughlin remains the only Golden Trio member to have been photographed in costume.

The up-and-coming child stars will be joined on HBO screens, when the series premieres in 2027, by established actors like Emmy winner John Lithgow (“Conclave”) as Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Oscar nominee Janet McTeer (“Ozark”) as Professor Minvera McGonagall and “Black Mirror” star Paapa Essiedu as Professor Severus Snape.

Noticeably still missing from the official cast of the “Harry Potter” reboot series is the role of its main antagonist, Lord Voldemort. Famously portrayed by “Conclave” star Ralph Fiennes, HBO has confirmed that while the role of the Dark Lord has been cast, they’re keeping the actor’s identity under wraps for now.
