‘When Calls the Heart’ Star Joins Alexa PenaVega for New Faith-Based Movie

A “When Calls the Heart” star is joining Hallmark alum Alexa PenaVega for a new faith-based movie, but it’s not on the Hallmark network. This one will air on Lifetime.

Jaeda Lily Miller Will Portray PenaVega’s Daughter

It’s a Wonderful Movie shared the news on Instagram, revealing that the film — called “Before Your Father Finds Us” — will premiere on LIfetime on July 26. Starwatch Byline reshared the news, and fans flooded the post with excited replies.

“Sounds good, and it will be good to see Jaeda in a thriller role,” one person commented.

Another person replied, “I’m not surprised because @jaedalilymiller has future leading lady potential and I’m thrilled that the writers and producers of @wcth_tv have recognized that recently.”

The movie is the first in a series of faith-based movies premiering on Lifetime this summer. The description on IMDb reads, “A woman relies on her religious beliefs while concealing herself and her teenage daughter from her abusive former husband.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is one of four movies focused on “women facing unfathomable circumstances who use their faith to lead them through.”

Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vice president and head of programming for A&E, Lifetime, and LMN, told Hollywood Reporter about the slate of new movies: “We are always listening to our audience, and we know there has always been a desire for stories that reflect strength, resilience, and faith. With these four new films, we’re thrilled to step into the faith-based space in a way that feels authentic, powerful, and deeply emotional. These are stories of healing, hope, and perseverance — and we believe they will resonate with anyone who’s ever faced adversity and looked for light in the darkness.”

A longer synopsis of Miller’s new movie reveals that it’s about a woman and her daughter who have to leave witness protection and go into hiding when the ex-husband escapes a maximum security prison.

Miller Has Shined as Allie on ‘When Calls the Heart’

Miller has shined as Allie on “When Calls the Heart,” and fans have been impressed with her acting skills.

Kevin McGarry, who plays her father Nathan, once gushed about what a great job she did in some key scenes in season 11.

At the Hallmark Christmas Experience in Kansas City, McGarry said about one emotional scene, “Jaeda was amazing in that scene. That was an amazing thing to see. Because … six years (ago) I came on, Jaeda was with me, she was much younger and to watch her grow into an actress of that caliber has just been an amazing thing to witness on the show.”

“Watching her grow up, not only in the show but just as an actress and a human being. There’s a pride, even though I’m not her father, you know what I mean?” he added. “…The preparation she did specifically for that episode was just amazing. Something so moving for me to watch, is just watching her growth as a human and as an actor.  I think working with Jaeda… I hold it as one of the highlights of my career.”
